The Future of Schooling: Beyond the borders of Books

in OCD2 years ago

I contemplated setting the title of this post as the future of education but at a second thought decided to call it this.

Note: this is just my own take on how schooling has evolved from what it used to be and what I see it as in the future. Some of my points may be based on my experiences as an African, particularly a Nigerian.

Over the years our educational system supported by an infrastructure created to be a medium for the dissemination of knowledge has gradually evolved from one which solely determines the success of the individuals who pass through it.

Nowadays we've seen that everyone now has the power to be successful and school isn't just the only means to achieving our desired success.
As the saying goes there's not only one pathway to success, there are several of them.

Since the playing field has been leveled and everyone has access to information that can be found in the four walls of the institution called school.

Is there any need for us to go to school anymore?

While many young people might say school isn't important, well they are right and wrong at the same time.
Right, because the value and high pedestal school have been placed with due to it being the source of knowledge have been brought down by the prevalence of the information age, as we can see that there's nothing that can't be learned on youtube or with just a simple search on google, boom we get the answers we seek.

They are wrong because the essence of going to school at this present age goes beyond the grades and knowledge as those are important but of little use any longer. The purpose of going to school now should be to discover oneself and build strong connections with like-minds and healthy relationships for the future.

As we all know that most of what we learn in school we applied very little of it in the real world, but what follows us to the real world is the friendships, connections, and relationships we've built while in school, as they serve as instruments that could be of great help to us in the future.

A note for everyone out there, while you're seeking to get good grades remember to build relationships that would be helpful beyond the borders of school.

This still stands as one of the most important reasons why schools would still exist in the future. They serve as breeding for young minds with big dreams and ambitions.

This further helps promote collaboration over competition as the focus would now be on how we all can grow each other for a better future tomorrow.

As I said this is just my point of view.

Peace out!✌😁
