Cloning of Aloevera, Nisporra and Pomegranates.

Hi Green fingered souls!

Today I am doing an experiment to see if I can take cuttings and regrow them in pots to start off new trees. The first is more of a plant, an aloe vera plant, and is so easy to make a part of it regrow into a new plant.

..this plant Above, was under the pomegranate tree in the ground and not happy at all Now its got fresh soil, water and some sun, and has new growth happening from the center. Notice the old brown leaves around the edge of the plant.

Taking cuttings from this plant is easy. The trick is to find thin tips that are not thick and holding much moisture so they wont mold. Let them try so a skin forms over the cut after a few days, and then they simple get put in soil.

I did have a helping hand with this mission! These were the tips we cut off Below. I'm wondering if they are to old and not healthy enough, but I didn't want to take tips from the new shoots in the center.

Vamos Aver!

Next up was the Pomegranate tree

It has a few fruits on it but sadly the tree positioning in the yard wasn't really thought about as the trees don't get much space. Also there's a high wall so the trees are stretching up high to get the sun, and tall skinny trees are not economical and are hard to get to the fruits.

There were plenty of branches not getting any sunlight and it was easy to choose a few without even climbing up anywhere.

Its important to cut the branch at an angle and get it in water as fast as you can to avoid the branch sucking up air which would create a bubble in the stem.

I think in 2 weeks they should have roots on the cuts.

Nisporra

Nisporra! Again, the tree isn't in a good place as there is not much space in the back yard. I didn't plant to do this but I thought to give it a go. There was one branch stretching toward to house in search for sunlight, so it was a good candidate to try.

I trimmed the leaves off to help the energy be used to go to the roots and not for the leaves to die off. This is a total experiment!

All the cuttings are now in the greenhouse in the shade

Sort:

I was in the produce section the other day at the store and passed by avocados, $2.79 for one avocado. Must be heck for those who like to make guacamole! They probably grow like weeds down there. lol. Never heard of Nisporra, is that a plant or does it produce a fruit.
