Rising Brahmaputra - water level continues to rise in Assam

in OCD4 years ago

The water levels are starting to rise indicating alerts of flood in the region. The upper state areas are already hit by the flood and we can hear of many bad situations, loss of life through the media

River Brahmaputra, a well known river of India had crossed the danger mark sign of rising water level. Many families who used to live by the riverside have become homeless and are now taking shelter in schools. News shows heavy rain alert in Assam and also in some other states

Isn't it unfair that people are facing this situation amid COVID-19 pendemic? What can somebody do in front of a natural disaster.

River Brahmaputra is 5 km away from where I live so it's obhious that we'll face the same situation soon. Paddy fields, ponds, started filling up with most of the loss done to the farmers.

Earlier we used to play cricket in field which is now completely submerged underwater. The above picture is of the cricket field.

Water levels are rising and as a result many fishes escaped out from rivers to the edges of where the water is. But also we have a fishary (fishing business) and rising of water may cause our raised fishes to escape as well. I shared some images on how we made a bamboo fence to stop fishes from escaping out in my previous post. But this situation turned in favor of many fishermans. This is the golden period for the fisherman make profit from the flood

Unlike 2012 flood, this is only small amount of rise. Don't want to face that situation again. Let's just hope for the best but also at the same time prepare for the worst.
I'll be updating about the situation until the water levels cakes back to normal.

thanks for visiting.

Rains are slowly filling up the dams in Kerala too and I hope we don't get floods this time too. Great photos. The fishermen can make good profit but I do hope you don't get floods that are uncontrollable.

Yeah the water currents from river are started to slow down a bit. Hope this is it.

I've seen the flood situation in kerela as well in television. Hope you don't get floods too.
Let's hope for the best
