Long ago, walking through the cultural area of Caracas, I entered the Museum of Fine Arts (MBA), a place that I have known for years and that always has something interesting to offer to visitors. This time I concentrated on a temporary exhibition on Egyptian mummies, tombs and treasures.
Located in Museums Square, in the area of Bellas Artes, the MFA is the oldest plastic arts museum in Venezuela, it was founded in 1918. At first it operated in the building of the National Academy of Fine Arts, in the center of Caracas and in 1938 its own headquarters was inaugurated where it currently is, a beautiful neoclassical-style construction by the architect Carlos Raúl Villanueva, who later also designed its modern-style extension located at the back.
The first headquarters was awarded to the newly created National Art Gallery (NAG) in 1976 and the MFA was moved to the back building until 2009 when the definitive NAG building was inaugurated on México avenue in Caracas and the MFA recovered its first headquarters, having since then more space to exhibit.
Returning to Egyptian art after this brief review, I asked a guide about the exhibition that I was going to see and also about the Egyptian collection that this museum owns. He told me that since 1990 it has been permanently exhibited at the MFA and that it has a total of 45 pieces, bought in 1958 from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, however, only 30 pieces were on display when I went. There are pieces from the Old Kingdom (floor 4), the Middle Kingdom (floor 3), New Kingdom (floor 2) and also some belonging to the Greco-Roman era, Roman Empire and Ptolemaic dynasty (floor 1).
Now I will show you some photos that I took of the exhibition on Egyptian mummies, tombs and treasures, really impressive, with more than 400 pieces, 20 of them original and the other faithful replicas of the most famous pharaohs such as Ramses II, Tuthmosis III and of course Tutankhamun, a young King who died at the age of 19.
Without a doubt, Egyptian art and culture always attract many people to museums, this time was no exception.

You have spent such a valuable time in the exhibition. Egyptian culture had many various arts and statues. There was many historical stories behind Egyptian mummies. I explored only few things about Egyptian history. But this post has more value to learn something. Thanks for publication with added brilliant photo shots @sofathana.
Thank @madushanka! I also wanted to learn more about Egyptian culture, it has so many things that sometimes it seems overwhelming, I appreciate that you liked this post :)
