Back in 2019 I wrote a piece on Cryptographics, an app that could be used by artists to create artworks from asset packs - asset packs could be bought and created, the assets made from them as well. Very interesting, as both artists and graphic designers of sorts are able to find a way to 'play' with the app, and even non-artists can play around and see if they can make something pleasing out of stuff made by others.
I had designed a few asset packs, and also minted a few artworks created 'randomly' (you can regenerate until one is made that you like), for 10-15 ETH each. One was listed for 2 ETH, back then the rate of ETH was 140$:
I sold a few asset packs, making a total of 0.5 ETH, which wasn't bad as the total amount of sales in the Cryptographics app back then was 6 ETH - I was a top seller of sorts! Because I had earned a little I could pay the fees to put up a few of the NFTs for sale. So I did.

Now, the sad thing is, when I tried to log in the past few years Cryptographics.app still existed but didn't show the asset packs or created artworks. I assumed it had something to do with the price of storage, as the items are stored on IPFS, and well... I sort of forgot about it, except for checking the app each 6 months or so.
I had always loved it and was surprised in this bull year for NFTs I still didn't see it back online.
OpenSea
Yesterday I checked OpenSea, which held the 'tx' of my minted Cryptographics but never showed the actual images. But suddenly it did show the images! Surprised, I opened each one of them, and what did I see?
5 5 bids of 1 ETH on 5 of my Cryptographics!
But...
The bids had expired a month ago!
Saddened I had missed the opportunity to sell, but also excited to see some 'life' in the app again, I actually opened the Cryptographics app. And what did I see?
2.2 ETH balance in my wallet, because my 2 ETH item was SOLD! On August 27th to be exact. It took me almost 6 weeks to find out :D
Maybe crypto needs notifications systems, anyone?

I also entered the Discord group and saw an interesting piece of information about Cryptographics on twitter... Apparently some people expect the minted pieces 1-247 (of which I hold six!) to become worth quite a bit. The details of this I'm still figuring out, but once I understand the market around 'rare NFTs' I will write another update.
For now I'm enjoying finding 2 ETH change in my digital coat pocket. I've had worse days.

2 eth? That's more than 6000$ at the moment, the best money are the ones forgotten, had it been a lost 500$ note it would definitely still be worth that same $500, but that's the beauty of crypto, everything eventually accrues value. Finding 2 ETH you didn't know you have - what a wonderful feeling :D I had a similar feeling when one day I saw that my Splinterland cards had gone up almost 10x - though those existence I didn't forget.

I'm claiming and staking every day :) bought some too, when SPS was under 40 cents to get enough vouchers for at least 50 packs for the promo card from presale. Would like to go for 100 packs, but what I've read, the required SPS would be around 10 000, so I would have to double what I have. That feels like too much digging into my other crypto assets, but will see - if Hive pumps further into $5 I might buy some more with liquid Hive :)
Let's see, if I don't have anything else on calendar, I might come visit the metaverse this time :D

Haha, yes, 10000 SPS for 100 packs if BEFORE all the SPS from liquidity pools is going to be staked... I think you'll need to think with 35% LESS than you think now. Unfortunately, because I too wanted 100 packs and don't know if I'll make it :-(((

I'm sorry to hear you lost the NFTs but that ETH discovery had to have made your day! I had something similar happen recently. I was cleaning off an old laptop and found a PDF version of a paper wallet with REN in it.
I didn't lose the NFT's, in fact, they 'came back'! And I sold one! :D
So cool you found an old wallet, I think many of us hold a few coins that we forgot about and now suddenly add to our wealth <3 Love that you found some too!

That is a great story, I need to check my wallet from my Ethereum mining days, I remember that I might have 0.2 ETH dusted there. These are quite happy and unexpected moments!
Ahhh YES! Find your old wallets, dust 'em off, and enjoy the new found riches! I'm sure so much crypto is lost in 'forgotten' wallets, we shouldn't be part of that trend :D
