A other way of going to concerts

in OCD3 years ago

finally, a 'normal' post from me. Times are crazy, in personal life (with the lockdown) and at work... But we'll manage :).
On thing that keeps me going it music and family !...

It looks like streaming concerts /performances are becomming the new standard. And while I do love going to reallife concerts, watching live streams are fun too.. A kind of the artist in your livingroom and supporting them with a little compensation. Not all artists need compensation but a lot of them do. Just imagine you losing all your income and expenses are continuing... It can be hard I guess. I am in the great position that all I experience with my family is the lockdowns, not being able to have a drink when and where I want... that is a luxery problem.

I have already seen some live streams the last couple of months, here are some of them.

Danny Vera

Danny Vera, I have already dedicated a earlier post to him, is a dutch singer which is a absolute talent. He is already making music for decades but his broke trough with a hit song "rollercoaster"... The song is on 1 on the Top 2000, a yearly hitlist in the Netherlands. He won from songs of Queen, Deep Purple etc... So he is quiet a guy in our country ;)

This take is from the stream we watched some months ago. It was really awesome and he souds so "Americana " ;)

Corey Taylor

The slipknot and stone sour frontman Corey Taylor organised a livestream "live at the forum".. I watched this one together with my youngest son, a real fan of Corey. The concert started at 23.00 o clock, a bit late but what the heck :)

Corey played his new album and it was really awesome. The strange thing is after each song you don't hear any audience screaming.. Only silence.... But he made it real fun !!.. And some great music of course..

Nothing but thieves

One of the bands I really really love at the moment is Nothing but thieves. They have their typical own sound and some great songs... The frontman has this absolute unique voice....

Jett Rebel

Jett Rebel is a dutch multi-instrumentalist.... Just a awesome musician. His live stream was great. It was the "one man band" which meant he played all intstruments and sang the tunes.. He used a loop-station for it and it was just mad. He didn't played one song of his own, only great funk covers.... The awesome thing was also he let people decide for themselves what they wanted to pay for the stream..... The minimum was 2 euro's.... isn't that brillijant...

Matt Andersen

Matt Andersen is a canadian singer - songwriter with a awesome voice and guitarskills... this concert was last saturday / sunday (dutch time) with friends.... a two hour show... It was just awesome... I watched this together with Rien , one of my dearest friends and music buddies. He brought some great American beers...we had a blast..

Culture Club

One of my guilty pleasures from my youth is "Culture club" .... They till perform every now and then...
And Boy George is still great in tune. This stream is next saturday, can't wait....
We are going to watch together with friends of ours (two persons)... Looking forward to it..

Do you watch any live streams? Looking forward to yours..

Have a great evening,

Peter

I saw Culture Club live some years ago and was very impressed. They were playing a show with ABC and Human League. I didn't think Human League were so good then.

I have not been watching many streamed gigs, but Steven Wilson has been doing some songs from his studio. Musicians have been doing what they can to keep going.

Hope you will be rocking again soon.

Ah cool, ABC and Human Leaque are just in the same period and a bit the style. I thought the same about Culture Club, they are still rocking it. Boy George got a much more warm voice though :)

Cheers and have a !BEER

My wife and I have watched a couple Bon Jovi shows so far. We also watched Luke Combs and a lesser known band named Whitey Morgan. When all of this first started we did a live stream of Garth Brooks as well. The one thing I don't like about live streams is they are usually only an hour or so long. I'd prefer something in the 2 hour range. I guess for free you can't really complain right?

Free? hahaha we didn't have a free one yet :)

Oh really? You had to pay for those ones?

Yes, they were all paid. Only the one of Jett Rebel was "Pay what you like" , the others where from 10 euro's upto 25. But no problem to support the performers :)
