in Project HOPE3 years ago

In the last two publications of project hope i was talked about your crypto security because your key means your coin and if you will lost key, you lost coin too. Despite all this incident, we do not take care of this things.

If you are holding bitcoin then now you are rich person because bitcoin already touched 40k dollar level and i want to congratulate to you. By sharing these incidents I want to aware you. So take it positively. let's move on the first.

1. Mt. Gox incident 2011

at 19 June 2011 this was happened and amount was 2609 BTC which is huge. Mt. Gox was the operator of this exchange, it's japan based crypto exchange.

This was not happened once but twice. In 2011. hacker was transferred 2609 bitcoin to unknow address that mt. gox has no access. But they regained the trust of users.

After 3 years th second attack was happened. And this time 750,000 BTCs were mising. The sad thing is users not get refund this time. so they lost their funds here.

Hacking of 750,000 BTCs is not a small thing. So this is the biggest hacking ever.

2. BitFloor hacking

24,000 btc was hacked in the sepetember 2012. This was the old and trusted exchange that hacked. Bitfloor founder refunded the money of users.

You remember the binance incident? where users who lost funds were got refund from the SAFU. But that is not going to happen every time so choose safe side before anything happen.

I have shared information about hardware wallet which is safest place to hold crypto for hard crypto holders.

3. Poloniex

12% of total amounts were hacked on 4th March 2014. Now justin sun team operating this exchange and you can see it's integration in steemit as well but here i am talking about that old time incident.

So instead of blocktrade, now poloniex taken the place there. So this was happened after separation of hive and steem. You know this was the one of the busiest exchanges of Bitcoin.

The exact amount lost not shared by the company But you can read it on bitcointalk forum.

Along with these exchanges binance and bitfinex were also hacked. And the amounts were 120,000 BTC in bitfinex and 7000 Bitcoin in binance.

The whole thing is never trust on any exchange and always diversify your portfolio in trading. If you are holder then i don't recommend you to hold your coins in exchnages. Use multiple exchanges and coins.

So guys these are some famous bitcoin hacks in the history and you have any information regarding other big hacking incidents then must share it.

hi dear @luckyali
750.000 x 40000 = 30 billions of dollars, oh my god I can't believe it, those people must be living a life of super millionaires with that stolen money, it is incredible how we can be victims of hackers fortunately they are working to improve security, but I think we can never be completely safe, hackers will always be a latent threat.

blessing

hi bro,
ya that's big amount.

but I think we can never be completely safe, hackers will always be a latent threat.

exactly, they are always researching new tricks to fool people. :D

Hi @luckyali
We are not surprised at what hackers are capable of.
You certainly have to be very careful, but I ask then:
Is there no secure exchange?
What do you think would be the most "secure"?
Thanks

For trading i prefer to use bittrex and binance and for holding crypto, ledger wallet is the best option.

Although, there is risk involved in every exchange.

Thanks for your feedback
