When someone is enroute to his life's dreams, so many things will come to distract him and once he gives heed to these distractions, he will lose sight of his destination. In a football match for example, the ultimate goal is to score and win the match. If a player gets distracted by fans and other people, it may hamper the delivery of his goal. This is why, at all times, it is good to maintain focus and not give attention to distraction.
One of the strongest distractions people get is from peers. Pressures from peers, friends and acquaintances have made a lot of people to lose focus in life. The truth that you need to realize is; your life should not be patterned after the standards of someone else, you have a different life and a different dream from them. So your life should not revolve around their options.
Believe me, if you follow someone else that is enroute to a different destination, you will not arrive at your own. You should realize that even though you should not go about making enemies, everyone should not also be your friend. They may not be bad but if they are not serving a positive purpose in your life, then you do not need them around you.
The point where you are almost close to hitting your mark is the point where intense opposition arise and this is just to make you to lose focus. At that point, the only thing you need to do is to keep your mind fixed on your dreams and more energy will be released within you to keep moving. If your dreams do not drive you to keep taking steps, then it might just be that you are yet to dream big enough.
One thing I normally notice with athletes (especially runners) is, once they take off, they keep their eyes affixed to the finish line and they maintain their focus till they brace the line. Drawing lessons from them: if you are pursuing after your dreams, what you should be focused on are ways to make the dreams to be actualized.
Even at the point of failure, you do not have to be distracted, just try again. There are many routes to take to your destination. That one particular format does not deliver your dreams does not invalidate your dreams, it only suggests that you should try with another format.
