Coldplay - Rock Band

I will tell you about one of my favorite rock bands. Coldplay!

Coldplay is a British pop rock and alternative rock band formed in London in 1996. It is made up of Chris Martin, Jon Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion. It is one of the most relevant groups of the 2000s and early 2010s.

Coldplay's early work resulted in the band being repeatedly compared to artists such as Radiohead, Oasis, INXS, U2, and Travis. They achieved international success with the release of their single "Yellow," followed by their debut album, Parachutes (2000), which was nominated for the Mercury Awards. His second album, A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002) won multiple awards, including Album of the Year according to the weekly NME.

Other names:

Pectoralz (1996-1997)
Big Fat Noises (1997)
Starfish (1998)
The Units (2018)

Early in their career, Coldplay's musical style was defined as the dark sound of alternative rock, mainly perceptible on their early Safety EPs, The Blue Room, and their first studio album Parachutes; being compared to that of Radiohead, U2, Travis and Oasis. However, as time went by, they evolved into a soft pop style. The group's singer-songwriter, Chris Martin, once described the group's music like "soft rock." The music of this band was described as "meditative", "romantic" and "reflecting their emotions".

With musical inspirations from Nirvana and even Katy Perry, 160 Ghost Stories was considered more of a Chris solo album than a Coldplay album. His lyrics reflect feelings of loss, betrayal, bitterness, loneliness and melancholy. Martin's divorce from American actress Gwyneth Paltrow was the main inspiration for the album.

I always thought of Coldplay as a Pink Floyd for the 2000s.
