Morning Run - Before the storm

in EXHAUST4 years ago

I just finished a 7.071km running that lasted about 0hh:42mm:4ss !

It has been pretty hot for us lately reaching 34C at times. The pool has been getting plenty of use. This morning it was somewhat cooler and there was even a breeze as I set off on an intervals run. I was doing the 30-20-10 workout which consists of short sprints of increasing intensity. I did what has become a regular loop to the north of #Arlesey.

As I passed the school I saw a kestrel hovering over the field edge looking for prey. Shortly afterwards a guy came pounding past me, but I was on a rest phase and I do not try to race people anyway. He kept gaining on me even when I ran faster anyway.

The last set of sprints was on the rough tracks around the fields where I have to watch my footing. Some of those tracks have very narrow worn parts that I try to keep to so as to avoid hidden holes. No untoward incidents this time and not many people around.

I had to wait a while to cross the bypass and then headed straight home. As I was having breakfast I could hear thunder and then the rain came. I had to make sure all the windows were shut as it was heavy. We needed some rain as the water butts were getting empty, but I am glad I did not get caught out in it. Some parts of the country have had flooding and a train was derailed in Scotland with several deaths. Hope everyone on Hive is safe.

Run free, stay well and stay safe.

Nice pace pal, you are at the level that I am currently aspiring towards. Cracking that 6min km is proving to be a real milestone for me. I can do it on a 3k, but anything higher than that and i either gas out early or seriously slow down towards the end. It all takes time though, right?

It's taken me a few years to get to this level and I'm pretty happy with it. I have to accept that I'm the wrong side of 50 and not going to get too much quicker, but I feel there is still room for improvement.

Good job on the run. Been switching to hiking this month but may have to do a jog in between storms as it has been insanely hot here!

I try to get out before it gets too hot, but looks like it will be a bit cooler for the next few days. I know you have your run/hike target, but I do not bother to log any walks I do. I may get out for another nature ramble with the camera soon.

It's all exercise and being active that counts 🙂

Wow, lucky that you made it back in time! It sounds like it was a really great run. My activity has been horrible lately. The beginning of the school year is creeping up on me and work is getting nuts.

I could have got soaked, but that's not too bad when it's warm. That has not happened in a while.

My wife is in school (where she works) today as they are giving out exam results that are having to be estimated as they kids did not get to sit them. Kids in Scotland should be back already, but some did not go back yesterday as storms there caused some issues with internet and other services. Both my kids have finished school now.

Lucky for them that they don't need to go through all of this mess!

You have uploaded 177 running activities, and 62 of them have been of similar distances (within 10 percent)!
Here are your 5-fastest running activities of a similar distance:

Over these 62 similar activities, you have travelled approximately 437.75 kms at an average pace of roughly 5:51 min/km!
Your latest run was at a pace of approximately 5.948min/km!
Looks like you went a bit slower this time! Remember that it's important to take some rest days, and do some rehab / prehab / strength and conditioning training too! If you weren't intending to go slower, take a moment to listen to your body, and see if you need something. Check in with yourself!

Every day is a good day when you run.
