A New Week

in The City of Neoxian4 years ago (edited)

I took this photograph of a spot in our garden last Monday; a week ago. The view and the words on the left were specifically with two of my friends in mind. Both were facing difficult weeks. For different reasons. One's life has changed irrevocably. Forever.

Little did I know, that I needed those words, too.

That afternoon, our confidence around The Husband's surgery was momentarily dashed. Friday morning was difficult.

Happy tears were shed, though, after the all clear was sounded.

More tears were shed on Saturday as we said our farewell to someone who succumbed to a mental illness.

Today, I wake more refreshed than in weeks. I am grateful for the care and support we have from friends - near and far, online and off. This six or so weeks would have been all the more difficult without you.

Now, the healing will continue - for us all. I start the new week just a little stronger and with a little more focus than I have had for a while. I am glad because I also need to be there for my friends who are facing greater challenges than I.

Thank you all, again, for the good wishes. They are appreciated - each one - more than you know.

Until next time, be well

    • and "re-capturing" nearly two years' worth of posts because of this.

Thank you @fionasfavourites, for using the CO2 Compensation Coin (COCO) to reduce your CO2 footprint.

Amazing and... sobering, I suppose (since my brain isn't coming up with a better word) at how much can change in just seven days. I hope this week brings continued healing to all.

Thank you Traci - and for being there - especially as I know you are facing your own challenges, too.

That's a beautiful reflection. We do need those three words too. They get harder to come by when all kinds of deprivations are imposed on a whole country. I'm terribly sorry about the friend you lost and hopeful that your husband's health issues will be taken care of.
They say hard times make us stronger, but hard times in isolation and without hope ahead can weaken even the strongest minds. We live in a constant struggle to find hope in daily defeat, peace in the turbulences of every day, and love in hearts hardened by loss and despair.
I take from history that this (whatever it may be) too shall pass, even if we do not live to see it. We may be meant to be scaffoldings to allow our children or grandchildren climb high enough to see the light.
