The old name of ISRO is Indian National Research Committee (INCOSPAR). INCOSPAR (Indian National Research Committee) was formed in 1962 by the Government of India. Later in 1969, the Indian National Research Committee (INCOSPAR) was renamed as Indian Space Research Organization, which is called Indian Space Research Organization in English, whose short form is ISRO (ISRO). ISRO was formed on 15 August 1969 by Vikram Sarabhai, ISRO made many satellites, rockets, and vehicles for India. ISRO is the only organization in the world that has launched the most satellites into space.

Achievements of ISRO

Aryabhata, India's first satellite built by ISRO, was launched into space by the Soviet Union on 19 April 1975. This satellite was named after India's distinguished mathematician Aryabhata. This is a big achievement for India. India's second satellite made by ISRO was named Bhaskar.

Chandrayaan, built by ISRO, was launched into space on 22 October 2008, which orbited the moon. After this chandrayaan-2 was released into space which for some reason failed to land on the moon. The most successful vehicle made by ISRO was Mangalyaan which became successful in its very first attempt. This vehicle orbited Mars. Mangalyaan was placed in Earth orbit on 24 September 2014. With this, India became a country that was successful in its first attempt. ISRO was also awarded the Indira Gandhi Award in 2014. ISRO built some such satellites and instruments such as weather forecasting, broadcast communication, information systems, maps, etc.

Other achievements of ISRO are as follows-

  • In 2017, ISRO created a world record by launching 104 satellites in space simultaneously.
  • ISRO launched GSLV-MK3 into space in 2014, which has a crew capsule manufactured by India. It can carry three passengers in space.
  • On July 29, 2017, ISRO launched a communication satellite named Gsat-17 into space. The Gsat-17 is designed to last about 15 years.
  • "GSAT-6A" is a communication satellite of ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation). Which was launched by GSLV-F08.

Major Missions of ISRO

Finding enough water and oxygen on the moon to build a house and live life, so that in the coming time, we can get rid of the problem of increasing population and population density on the earth. We can also say that to discover and know about a planet where future generations can live. To make such a satellite through which one can easily reach from one planet to another.

Connecting the earth through communication. Understanding the upcoming weather forecast, the whole of India and the world can be kept safe for disaster management. If we tell about ISRO in brief, then it is an organization that has played an important role in the development of India with its hard work and made India feel proud. With the help of ISRO, India has become a country to progress in space.

Challenges of ISRO

Indian Space Research Organization is continuously developing and progressing in the field of space. It is gradually providing India with every technology related to space. But in the path of development and progress of ISRO, there are many challenges in front of it.
Some of the major challenges of ISRO are:-

Lack of space-related resources (like launch pad and launch vehicle). ISRO has two launch pads and only one launch vehicle, which is very less in number.
Less time available for the launch of space-related vehicles, satellites, rockets, etc.
Lack of full cooperation from the government in economic and other fields.
Competing with other countries like America, Russia, etc.
