I am a collector and I have enjoyed collecting the things I have when I came here. Selling my Yodins is not easy and not what I wanted to do long term. I originally wanted to hold them for the rest of my life! 😊

I thought an abuse project with a new angle focusing on higher quality content would be a boon for all stakeholders.
But these things happened and it's normal and okay with the majority of people here:

• A different person saying I am Killing HIVE (for me buying HIVE and staking it and then downvoting someone who was posting what I consider spam).
• A different person calling me a criminal.
• Someone I did not downvote, then downvoting me in retaliation for me downvoting someone who is running an actifit account with a KE of 70+.
Based on my experience, this is HIVE's system, this is HIVE's process. People here are ok with this.
To me the downvote button is too easy to push and maybe it really shouldn't exist? Maybe HIVE should just become a Blurt clone? I wouldn't advocate for that. It seems like HIVE has a lot going for it.
I like to try to solve interesting problems. And I think HIVE abuse is an interesting problem and I believe it always will be.
AI and automation will get better. It gets better everyday. How people decide to deal with that here, I will keep track of, because if it can be solved here, I think there's something to learn about that and will have other real world applications.
I wanted to get to rank 22 with my stake because I like number 22. I got to rank 43 in a month because I believe in the top stakeholders here and I originally wanted to be a part of the solution.

But I have come to terms with the fact that I don't want to be a part of the solution and I can't. Few people really care about this and people think it is ok to threaten me for pennies. It's only Karma right? Because me downvoting content makes me a bad person apparently.
Fine. I will leave antiabuse to Hive Watchers and anyone else that wants to do it independently cough @themarkymark.
I will delegate my HP to other people that care about abuse more than I do and are willing to do it from their own accounts.
There are specific people, that have been supportive to me throughout this on chain. To these people I am forever grateful.
I have no intention of doing the work required to fix anything here. I will let the people who came before me continue to manage.
This is the only viable option for me going forward.
I would like to end this post on a positive note with sharing some things I have enjoyed collecting over the years (even if these things aren't that "valuable" and I can't easily sell them).
1st is the Yodin Plushy
While basically no one irl knows what this is, it is hard to find and rare. I love the Yodin cards I had the pleasure to collect at one point in time. This Yodin plushy helps represent that love. I really enjoyed Splinterlands and think they have good products. I do not regret spending money on it and I had a lot of fun. I made a lot of friends, met interesting people, and learned a lot about how all this stuff works. For that, I am grateful and I wish the Splinterlands team the best in their business endeavors.
2nd is the Elder Wand
This is not a particularly rare item. These are very easy to find real versions of and the fake ones will typically pass as authentic. So it's really not worth much if anything. However, I have a lot of fond memories with this item. Buying it with money I had to save up and still holding this item today is a good feeling. Using it as a prop with Halloween customs and making short silly videos with me acting like Dumbledore. This item also embodies in some ways my time here on HIVE. There are a lot of things that are not "valuable" here but they are valuable to me. My friends, the journey, the mission, and the resolve when things don't go our way.
3rd is the Mew Trading Card
This is a rare item but not really valuable. It might be valuable to one other person on HIVE I can think of but that is about it. I have a fond memory of this item because I shared it in the Zing discord once. I got positive feedback from the Zing community about this item. It is really hard to collect rare things and find people who appreciate them. This was one of those times and I will always cherish that moment.
I do not need HIVE to talk to the interesting people I have met here and I really do appreciate the good times we had.

I really appreciate what you were doing! Not many people get interested in by this problem and they just focus on their blogs. Hive needs people that helps onboarding/ retention , but also need people that don’t only upvotes. Downvotes are a control needed to the blockchain .

When you unfriended me on Discord, I thought there was a problem, but then I followed your blog posts and saw that you had chosen a path. Very few people on Hive wonder why they get downvoted and accept it when they find out the answer. Most ask angrily, “WHY?!!!” and don't hesitate to threaten you. Sometimes I look at old Steem posts and see several big downvotes on each one. At least no one argues in the comments, “Why did you downvote me?” When I joined Hive a few years ago, there were downvote accounts that followed Ocdb, xocdb appreciator, and xappreciator. I don't know where they've gone now. Downvotes have decreased over the last few years, and very few accounts use them. There used to be more people who used them. When I get downvoted, I just wonder why, so I don't repeat it if I did something wrong. If they think I'm over-rewarded, I respect that.
I know you're trying your best, I've known you personally since the Moon game, but I also saw that we chatted on the Holozing server before. It's impossible not to respect the decision you've made now; even if you have a mind of steel, being constantly threatened is a difficult thing. To be honest, I couldn't do that.
Please don’t feel like I removed you as a friend. I deleted my entire discord which was way more hardcore and everyone got removed 🤣
This path was not the only reason but the main reason, I want to curate “good” content on HIVE with as little influence as possible.
I think the downvotes should be used more but culturally not everyone here is ok with that. Maybe that will change but I’m not sure when or how.
The other reason I removed my discord and all the contacts was my discord was too out of control and frankly, I want to spend more time doing other stuff I can enjoy and trying some new things.
Also, moon was/is awesome and I’m glad we got to play together!

For some people, this is a source of income. The $1 they earn here each day is a significant amount for their household. I can imagine that losing this would anger them greatly. On the other hand, as a stakeholder, you can downvote posts you consider low-quality.
I tried to make it really clear it was not personal lol.
Also, I don't believe I can downvote posts that are low-quality and I don't believe people here are ok with people using their stake as they wish.
Of course, quality is subjective, like liking or disliking something. Something that seems worthless to you may be very valuable to someone else. That's what I meant.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. The reasons I don't downvote much are not because I don't believe in fighting spammers, nor because I care about personal attacks (At the beginning of Splinterlands — Steem Monsters — I co-ran a Splinterlands contest channel called contest kings. Aggy worked with us and distributed free packs through us. Man, I got called so many bad words and was threatened so many times by people who didn't think we were giving them enough. You kind of just ignore it after awhile), but because my account is small and I don't want to get in any downvoting wars with people. If I could afford to buy more HIVE, I wouldn't worry about that, but alas...I can't.
Anyway, maybe it's best to step away from downvoting for now as you figure out what you want to do and recover from the shock of how these people react. Just curate stuff you like for now and both enjoy the curation rewards and enjoy bringing the poster a little happiness as they see a big vote coming in. I told you before that my biggest motivation to powering up was voting on the return proposal. That's only half true. My other biggest reason is so I can better reward people. I want to be like @appreciator where people feel good when they get that vote and feel good about what they wrote. In other words, I want to make people feel happy. Silly, I guess. It's the Mr Rogers in me.

I mean curating can be a really positive experience for sure. I think one think that does bother me is now that I have more HIVE, I am more incentivized to upvote other people who are invested in the ecosystem.
I never realized that change in incentive structure would happen and have such a big impact on how I think.
There is a lot of nuance here that not everyone will appreciate and I am having a hard time coming to terms with.
Side note - We could use some Mr Rogers energy around here so I am all for it! 😊

I think it's best not to focus on downvote curation too much, it'd be better if we all did a little every now and then rather than making it the main activity - as it can get quite a lot quite fast.
If you wanna focus on upvote curation instead for a little bit, we may have some extra spots in OCD as during these times some have become inactive/gotten removed for other reasons. Let me know.
If you wanna have at it yourself, one tip I can give you is that you can check everyone's feed by going to (ex. peakd.com/@acidyo/feed), it helps finding new users who may be undervalued or overlooked and providing value in more ways than just the content that generally brings very little eyes to it, unless you're very active here and have been for a very long time.

Accepted! Take your time, downvote curation can really pay a toll on both parties, some think I take pleasure in having to do it from time to time when it's the last thing I'd wanna. If only people took better care of their upvotes or didn't try and cheat their way to easy rewards.
Do you do it with OCDB? I guess the easy out for me would be to delegate to a big curation project like yours that also does downvoting?

Dang, that sucks. You definitely have to have a thick skin to do the anti-abuse stuff, but to be honest, the people who cry the loudest are usually the worst offenders. It sounds to me like you were touching a nerve and actually doing some damage. That's not the road I am taking, but in your place I probably would have just stuck to my guns.
My biggest issue is the people sticking up for the scammers.
I don’t care about the scammers but the fact that a lot of people are ok with their behavior and indulge them.
It's probably because they are all part of it. Either that or they don't want to believe they were fooled themselves.
I have literally seen both happen so I think it's both.
I do think there is like a weird hangover from back when everything was pumping hard and a lot of people have unreasonable expectations for the future.
To me that dream has slowly started to fade for a lot of people while others are clinging on as hard as possible.
Yeah, I mean, there have been a few cases where people got chased away, but usually that was by bigger accounts and they had their own reasons. I would say nine times out of ten when you see people react like this it's because they had some kind of scheme running and you are disrupting their ability to abuse the reward pool. Of course they will turn it on you and claim you are racist or killing the chain or something, but anyone who bothers to dig under the surface can see the truth. Anyone that tries to argue differently is either abusing the system themselves or lying to themself about it.
I 100% agree with you on the 9 out of 10. That was my personal experience.
May be more like 99 out of 100 though 🤣
I just wanted to say to everyone who was with me over the last 20 days. This was a wild experience and it was incredibly unique.
I only ran a downvoting project for 20 days and it was very strange.
I hope people find what they enjoy on HIVE and everyone keeps doing what makes them happy.

Some downvotes just need to happen from time to time, but it can have a negative effect on your self in the end .
This was all very eye opening for me. Def changed my opinion about HIVE.
People complain about HIVEwatchers but a small minority are willing to even help.
I try not to complain unless I can offer a solution. My solution now is, let the people who understand the politics and the culture here better than me run the show.
I have been here since Jan 2022 which is an insane amount of time in crypto; clearly it wasn't long enough.
I think if people want more people to come here and spend money, they should treat the people at the top here better.
i've seen bad things happening in whale wars on steemit back in the days , small accounts became collateral damage .
I can only hope it won't happen again here on hive .
I have no idea what steemit is besides the fact HIVE forked from it.
