Esta es una melodía tradicional del folklore inglés (de finales de 1400). Es anónima, aunque algunas leyendas se la atribuyen al Rey Enrique VIII, quien supuestamente se la dedicó a Ana Bolena. Es una canción de desamor. Tiene variadas letras y muchísimas versiones musicales entre las que se cuentan la de Ralph Vaughan, la de Coltrane o la de Leonard Cohen.
