The days between the end of one trip and the beginning of another always felt rushed. Having to get back home before heading off again always meant cramming a ton of things into a very short time. But this time, I knew it would be my last stop before planning another very special trip, so I wanted to enjoy it as much as possible. That's why, as soon as the weekend arrived, I loaded up on several plans to get everything ready before having to pack my backpack once again 😃.
Los días que pasaban entre el final de un viaje y el principio de otro siempre me resultaron muy apresurados. Tener que volver a mi casa antes de volver a estar de paseo siempre involucraban hacer un montón de cosas en muy poco tiempo. Pero esa vez sabía que sería mi última escala antes del planear otro viaje muy especial, así que quería disfrutarlo todo lo posible. Fue por eso que ni bien llegó el fin de semana, me cargué con varios planes para dejar todo listo antes de tener que armar la mochila una vez más 😃.
When I returned from my trip to Córdoba with my dad, I was really looking forward to seeing the rest of my family, whom I hadn't seen since returning from Ushuaia. The nomadic life has many wonderful aspects, but I think the one I like least is not seeing my family for so long. Along the way, I made several friends and undoubtedly had a great time, but spending time with my lifelong loved ones is on another level.
Cuando volví del viaje a Córdoba con mi papá, tenía muchas ganas de ver al resto de mi familia que no había visto cuando volví de Ushuaia. La vida nómade tiene muchas cosas hermosas, pero creo que la que menos me gusta es no ver a mi familia durante mucho tiempo. En el camino hice varios amigos y sin dudas la pasé genial, pero compartir el tiempo con mi gente cercana de toda la vida es otro nivel.

When the weekend arrived and we all had a little more free time, I organized a get-together with my lifelong friends. I love meeting up with them and catching up on what's been happening while I've been away. Well, "away" is relative, because we always keep in touch. But it's definitely not the same talking on the phone as being together in person with a drink and laughing until our stomachs hurt.
Cuando llegó el fin de semana y todos teníamos un poco más de tiempo libre, organicé una reunión con mis amigas de siempre. Me gusta juntarme con ellas y compartirnos los chismes y actualizaciones de lo que estuvo sucediendo en mi ausencia. Bueno, ausencia es relativo, porque siempre nos mantenemos en contacto. Pero definitivamente no es lo mismo hablar por teléfono que en la vida real con un trago de por medio y risas hasta que duela la panza.

Over the years, I've gathered different groups of people I enjoy connecting with, each one I met at a different stage of my life. Another group I like to keep close and see regularly is the people I met at university. Catching up on our professional lives inspires me and shows me how far we've come. Although I had graduated as an engineer some years prior, I wasn't working in the field yet because of my travels, but I knew that sooner or later I would.
A lo largo de estos años he reunido diferentes grupos de personas con los que me gusta relacionarme, cada uno conocido en alguna etapa distinta de mi vida. Otro de los grupos que me gusta tener cerca y ver regularmente es la gente que conocí en la universidad. Ponernos al día sobre nuestras vidas profesionales es algo que me inspira y me demuestra lo lejos que hemos llegado. Si bien yo me había recibido de ingeniera hacía algunos años atrás, todavía no estaba ejerciendo por mi etapa viajera, pero sabía que tarde o temprano lo haría.

Another thing I had to do over the weekend before heading off on another trip was to get my cats neutered. I'm very responsible about that, and since we have a lot of cats (8), I never want that number to increase. So I got back from my trip just as two of the younger cats were ready for their surgery. It's funny that most of our cats adopted themselves into our home, and even though I try to keep the number down, they always end up coming to live here anyway. They probably let each other know that we love them here and that we won't let them go hungry.
Otra cosa que tenía pendiente de hacer en mi fin de semana antes de emprender un nuevo paseo era esterilizar a mis gatos. Yo soy muy responsable con eso y, como tenemos muchos gatos (8), nunca quiero que esa cantidad aumente. Entonces volví del viaje justo cuando dos de los gatos más pequeños ya estaban listos para recibir su cirugia. Es gracioso que la mayoría de los gatos que tenemos se adoptaron solos en mi casa, y aunque hago un esfuerzo para que no sean tantos, siempre terminan viniendo a vivir acá de todos modos. Seguramente se avisan entre ellos que acá los amamamos y que no vamos a dejar que les falte comida.

A weekend of socializing and taking care of my responsibilities was exactly what I needed to clear my mind. Going out is something I enjoy, but it also gives me peace of mind to know I accomplished everything I needed to while I was at home. Now all that was left was to finalize the details for my last outing: I had almost everything planned, I just had to wait for the date to approach so I could make it happen ❤️.
Un fin de semana sociable y también de responsabilidades era lo que necesitaba para estar tranquila con mi mente. Irme de paseo es algo que me gusta, pero también me deja en paz saber que cumplí con todo lo que tenía que cumplir mientras estuve en casa. Ahora solo quedaba terminar de ultimar detalles para la última salida: ya tenía casi todo planeado, solo faltaba esperar que se acercara la fecha para concretarla ❤️.

Sin dudas estar lejos de las personas que queremos debe ser lo que más pesa, en la vida de un nómade, aunque es verdad que con la tecnología que hay hoy se está conectado, como bien dices, no es lo mismo que estar presente en el día a día con ellos
Es una característica de los gatos, ellos solos se invitan a quedarse en nuestros hogares, sobre todo cuando hay muchos gatitos en la casa; es genial que tomes la precaución de castrarlos, es algo muy saludable para ellos
Genial que hayas cumplido con todos los pendientes antes de emprender otra aventura

Without a doubt, being away from the people we love must be the hardest part of a nomad's life. Although it's true that with today's technology we're connected, as you rightly say, it's not the same as being present with them every day.
It's a characteristic of cats; they naturally invite themselves to stay in our homes, especially when there are many kittens in the house. It's great that you're taking the precaution of neutering them; it's very healthy for them.

Catching up with your friends and loved ones was really great. You're right talking with them over the phones is different than talking and laughing with them personally. When in person you can touch them, have a hive five and you can pinch them as well. You can also embrace and hug them anytime when you feel happy or sad. So it's really great when you are with your loved ones like family and to your friends. You can talk about the happy memories you had during those old times and laugh at them while joking. After a long time not seeing each other is a good one too because once you meet each other again a happy and unforgettable memories created hehe. I miss my friends and family too. I'm also hoping that we will see each other this Holidays or maybe one. Hehe thanks for sharing your story, it reminds me about my friends and family's out there. Happy holidays and please stay safe!
