The keen observer may have noticed I’ve been putting some work into snapie.io lately. Yes, it’s not supposed to be my main focus, since the mobile app is how this whole thing started, but I also can’t just sit back and let it fade into irrelevance.

Lucky for me, a lot of the work the team has been putting into 3Speak translates beautifully to snapie.io’s needs. I recently finished revamping the notification system, and I’m currently updating the video player inside posts to utilize the SDK we released under @Mantequilla-Soft. I hadn’t fully noticed the performance downgrade lately, apparently related to some updates in our beloved internet browsers.
I should also mention that I’m in the middle of a bit of a facelift for the site as well. Snapie.io had started to feel too visually different from the native mobile app, and it needed a fresh coat of paint. I realize that sounds cosmetic, but I took it to heart when a Hivean I respect mentioned that the website simply wasn’t up to par visually. I may not have gone full artsy with it, but I do think it’s a step in the right direction.
Another update worth mentioning is the official renaming of Hangouts to Openpods. My wife suggested the name, and I agree that it not only sounds better, but also sparks a bit more curiosity and imagination. It would genuinely be a realized dream of ours to see people hosting events, shows, and discussions on there someday.
With all that said, I might be a little distracted over the coming days, since I’m joining @eddiespino in a hackathon. I’ve never done one before, but there’s no reason not to try. In the worst-case scenario, we end up building a cool app, right?
Hope everyone’s having a productive week.

The new color palette on the Snapie website looks excellent. I like that dark tone you added with the bright blue edges as a finish better. I also greatly value the aesthetic aspect of every site I use or frequent, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who values this here on Hive.
I hope that "downplaying" the Snapie Mobile App, as you mentioned at the beginning, is only temporary, because I'd like to see this new aesthetic there, like a configurable "Dark Mode". 🤔

I love the new design and the notification system brother! Excited to see what you will come up with eddi! :D
thanks for your work bud... du bist der Hammer
The new look is fricking awesome! Love it.
Didn't knew about the notifications until I read @tibfox comment.
Are you interested on adding some filters for the abusers? Or you rely on the "Mute" function for that? Been downvoting a couple idiots latently and sometimes doing that from the phone is much nicer :D
Enjoy the hackathon... never did one too. After getting out of Uni that is...
this lil bots do make it to where a filter is needed.... ill put some though into how to tackle this.
Ohh nice! https://www.snapie.io/ is looking a lot better now!

I will check this out!
Its sometime till I used it, because it signed out by itself (I think it was 3 weeks ago or so) so I just need to sign in again :)
Well done!
:)
Great work! Love the new look.
I haven't looked at this project for a while, but it surely has developed. Well done @meno
I just tried out the video upload which works like a charm!
FYI: It's for a while now that snapie shows me notifications which are already been marked as read. Some days more then others. Now, since i've been on the road for a week i started to observe the how's and why's a bit more.
On the android app i've realised that it was the vote-notifications coming back again and again. Especially the ones i didn't went into each, but just using the 'mark all' button. And also few of the comments.
Today, back at the computer, i check out of curiousness the snapie.io (awesome 'revamp' btw). There it showed me only the notifications of today, but even read they came back again and again too.
Now i went to see what it looks like on peakd, went there to check the feeds as i usually do and all the notifications, i marked as read on mobile and snapie.io, where still there too, even more i felt.
So i hit that 'mark all as read' button over there and then checked on eventual changes. Anything? And yes it did. Several attempts to get the notifications back on the app or on snapie.io 'failed', which somehow tells me that as long as the notifications on peakd are 'live' it will continue to resend them to snapie.
I continue to keep an eye on this... just because i'm a curious person in general. hehehe. Sending a big hug to you and the snapie team. SnapOn!
