I’ve been a busy little bee.
Like… really busy.
Behind the scenes I’ve been cooking up a batch of upgrades that turned out way bigger than I expected. What started as “a few tweaks” turned into a full-on transformation.
This one’s a bit wild.
We’re rolling it out on Android first (gotta test the honey before serving it 🍯), and once everything feels smooth, iOS will follow right behind.
Now… I could hit you with a wall of tech jargon…
…but let me show you what this actually means for you 👇
🚀 What’s New on Snapie
🎙️ OpenPods (Hangouts) Are Here!
You can now jump into live audio rooms inside Snapie.
Think:
- Poice rooms for a Podcasts
- Chill conversations
- Spontaneous debates
- Late-night rambling with internet strangers
But better… because it’s ours.
You can:
- Create your own room (by clicking on the mic icon 🎙️ next to search)
- Join others instantly
- Chat while talking 🗨️
- Raise your hand to speak ✋ (civilized bees only 🐝)
- Even record the session 🔴 and turn it into a Snap
And here’s the fun part…
👉 When you create a room, it automatically gets announced to the community as a Snap!
No shouting into the void. Snapie’s got your back.
💰 Your Wallet… Finally Makes Sense
I fixed something that lowkey bothered me for a while.
You can now actually see what’s happening with your wallet.
- Who sent you funds
- What you sent out
- Rewards, power-ups, power-downs
- Clean timestamps like “2h ago”
No more guessing or opening other apps. No more “wait… where did that go?”
It just works.
🖼️ Images That Don’t Feel Like 2009
This one’s simple… but huge.
You can now:
👉 Swipe through images like a normal human being
Tap a photo → opens full screen
Swipe left/right through all images
See your position (like 2 / 5)
It feels like social media should feel.
Finally.
🔐 Active Keys… But Make It Safe
Alright, this one matters.
You can now securely add your Active Key with:
- Biometric protection (FaceID / fingerprint / PIN)
- Proper validation
- Clear “Full Access” vs “Posting Only” indicators
Translation:
- 👉 More power when you need it
- 👉 Safety when you don’t
No weird compromises.
👥 Multiple Accounts (About Time)
If you’re juggling accounts… I got you.
You can now:
- Add multiple accounts
- Switch between them easily
- Remove them if needed
No log-out, log-in circus anymore.
Just tap → switch → done.
🧠 Posts Actually Render Properly Now
This one is subtle… until you notice it.
- Hashtags are clickable (hsnap's tags looked broken)
- Markup Profile links work
- Images render correctly (through a proxy, shoutout to louis88 for this safety bug)
- Videos, tweets, embeds… all behave right
Basically:
👉 Things look the way they were meant to look
🐛 And Yeah… I Squashed a Ton of Bugs
Not the fun kind of bugs. (can't think of a single fun one right now either)
The annoying ones.
Login weirdness → fixed
Android quirks → handled
Random crashes → hunted down
Snapie went full exterminator this week.

- 150+ commits
- 10+ major updates
- 6 big new features
- Dozens of fixes
Not saying I turned into a heartless machine…
…but I might be more robot than bee now 🤖🐝

I’m not slowing down.

- Making the wallet even better (savings, claims, etc)

Snapie is starting to feel less like “an app I’m building out of love” and more like…
👉 a place people can actually hang out

Unrelated but relevent: Persoanlly I think hive needs an app with a radical artistic design. I have an idea for a hivester who i think would design something that would bring in lots of young people and artists to the ecosystem if she ever did visual design but i dont wanna say her name here in case she’s not interested and its definetly a radical choice haha
Ill tell you in private if you want, though my sense is most hive projects somehow prefer the corproate feel or something safe and “normal” 🥲
This is awesome news! With Hangouts, I can't see any obstacle to moving Hive Thrive and Witness Town Hall from Discord to Snapie! I will definitely poke around it and hopefully, reboot my #HHHLive show...
I suppose it works on a desktop too? I mean, regular browsers?

Thank you again for updating the Github package! As I mentioned on one of the snaps I was pretty stoked to see that there was one after forever XD The difference is palpable.
In the short stint I had with it before I very reluctantly dragged myself out of bed and while I was waiting for Eldest at the dentist the only thing I could find to nitpick about was the reply form being on a different page, and that's only because I'm not smart enough to always remember what I'm replying to (and I overthink everything).
I'll be trying to find some time to play around with it a bit more ^_^
You have solved the problem, that has been around hive universe for a long time. "Live audio section". Am not sure if any other hive related projects have the feature already?
when I first heard of Snapie, I knew that this project will solve many problems.
Well, I think people always come against this particular suggestion, but they are secretly enjoying the benefits of that from other social networks.
I have to tell you the truth; It is hard for a platform to survive without external revenue. You know this. Don't mind this people who behaves like hypocrites, speaking against "ads".
They question I should be asking them is: why are they hunting for the same ads revenue share from X (twitter)?
Yes! Because a see a lot of them there on X hunting for ads revenue shares, while they are speaking against that here.
They are hypocritic idiots. People don't like me because I speak the truth. Am not not concerned with that if you like me or not.
You have done ✅ well @snapie. But consider ads options and monthly subscriptions, that will greatly help this project. Leave all these hypocritic people.

It's looking good! I still see room for improvement, like some img links that aren't rendering properly, non-clickable links.
I'm missing freedom of choice inside the platform.
