Architecture + Design: Architectural fog 1928.

Greetings friends!

In our time, when there are many databases and registries, it may seem strange that you will not be able to find information about some architectural monuments that will give you an understanding of who their architect was, who and how they operated these buildings.

This information is, as it were, covered with a thick fog of the past tense and is completely erased from the history of mankind.

Probably, in every city you can see something like that.

And, the city is exactly. which is located in the northwestern part of Ukraine, is no exception.

At the intersection of two streets, Dragomanovi and July 16, you can see an interesting building, which, after a lot of renovation work, has slightly lost its own. initial appearance. but, there is a stigma that says that the one who erected it wanted to capture the day, or rather, the year, when the roof crowned the walls of this building.

High-rise buildings hide the former grandeur of this building in their shadows.

The date 1928 can be seen on the attic of the facade.

This is the year, most likely, when this house was put into operation.

DSC03994.JPG

Under this date you can see a rusty clock that once showed the exact time, but I think this clock appeared much later than this building.

DSC03992.JPG

Если бы часы были ровесникаи этого дома, то, я думаю, их внешний вид был бы более изысканным.

DSC03993.JPG

Miniature balconies adorn the walls of the second floor of the building.

Window openings, both arched and rectangular.

DSC04000.JPG

Apparently, the architect wanted the facade of the building to look like a Catholic church in the Gothic style, and what was outside the corner of the block worried him less.

In fact, this corner facade is the main highlight of this building.

DSC03995.JPG

The veranda with high, arched, Gothic windows is decorated with stained-glass windows.

If you went out on such a balcony in the morning with a cup of coffee, then you would feel like the ruler of the world).

DSC03989.JPG

This is how this veranda, or outbuilding, looks from the side.

I doubt the drainpipe looked as shabby then as it does today.

It is a pity that the work of the tinsmiths of those times has not survived.

DSC03987.JPG

Now, I propose to look at this building from different angles.

We will not be in a hurry, like many passers-by who have no time to stop and look around.

DSC04002.JPG

Today, this building houses many offices, pubs and a medical laboratory.

DSC03983.JPG

A glance at the roof reveals that the attic floor was added much later and the original shape of the roof was changed.

DSC03991.JPG

The race for square meters makes people forget about preserving the original appearance of architectural monuments, but what did it look like initially?

This is fog.

DSC03990.JPG

The fact that this house has a basement floor amazed me.

The architect was not stopped by the high level of groundwater in this part of the city.

DSC03984.JPG

Of course, this building is a rather modest masterpiece of architecture, but it can be seen with what love the architect treated his work, who took up his pen and began to draw the first sketches of this building.

It was created for people, in order to please their eyes and become one with the world around us.

This is not a typical project, it was created for this, the one and only place in our city.

DSC03985.JPG

While trying to find more information about this house, I came across an investigation by a journalist who, like me, wanted to know more about this building, like me.

He interviewed many people, old-timers, who expressed their version and memories.

Someone said that there was a deli on the second floor, someone talked about the murder of historical figures in this house, and someone recalled that a famous movie actor lived here.

As a result, the secret of this house remained a secret of 1928, or, simply, a fog.

For my publications, I do not use stock photographs, it is fundamentally important for me to use photographs that I have made with my own hands for publication and I can name them - authorial work.

I love the color combination of this structure, it's like an avocado ice cream.

Thank you very much! I also thought about avocado ice cream ... no, pistachio)

You're welcome (^_^)

This house is beautiful, I love it 😍. I wonder if it has a courtyard? In the past, I think many houses were built with love, imagination and a great sense of art and life value. But this house is unique 🤩.

Thank you so much for your wonderful comments. Next time I am there, I will check if there is a courtyard, thanks for the great thought!

I'm quite curious, in the past they often built courtyards in the city :)).

[ENG] Hello @barski I greet you from Venezuela, this phrase made me laugh, I quote:

"If he went out to that balcony in the morning with a cup of coffee, then he would feel like the ruler of the world" end quote.

You are right, many buildings have lost their historical reference, here in Venezuela it has also happened that I try to investigate something and it is very difficult for me to obtain the desired information. Excellent work. Receive a strong virtual hug full of positive energy and lots of light.

Thank you very much! Yes, it is strange that a relatively recent history is erased from people's memory faster than the memory of distant centuries.

There are plenty of such buildings found in a specific area in my city with the year written on the façade which is rare to witness these days, I appreciate your keen observations to capture them and drive through teh memory lane.
Have a great weekend:)

Thank you very much! This gives us a reason for an exciting quest) Have a great day!

I have read quite a few of your blogs on architecture and design community. I can see that the architectural theme within the community that you live used vibrant colors. !PIZZA

It is cool to discover old buildings with the year markers on them, such as this one with lots of stories to tell.

Thank you very much! Sometimes, these stories are covered in fog.

These older building have much more personality than the shiny new corporate building.

Thank you very much! I completely agree with you! old buildings have something that cannot be repeated.

This Is interesting

Thank you very much!
