Bucharest-La Belle Epoque

Yesterday I started a journey through my city, going more than a hundred years ago. No, I don't have a time machine, I have a book that has collected photos from the most beautiful period of the late nineteenth century, the period called "La Belle Epoque", that means, isn't it, "The Beautiful Age".

The fact that the French name of this period is used proves that in France it was the origin. A long period of peace led to economic, scientific, and cultural development in France, and then throughout Europe. The joy of life and the arts, all the arts, from painting to architecture had a sudden and intense development.

In Romania, one of the least developed countries in Europe, the capital Bucharest fully experienced the effervescence of La Belle epoque, thanks to the elite and the rich who were all educated in Paris. Thus, from elegance and fashion to the architecture of houses, everything imitates Paris, leading to Bucharest being called Little Paris.

Yesterday I started presenting a portion of the most beautiful boulevard, called Calea Victoriei, a boulevard that has remained almost unchanged since the time of ... Belle Epoque. I wanted to present two representative buildings of that era, the Post Office Palace and the CEC Palace. I managed to present only the Post Office Palace, you can see Little Paris. Today it was the turn of the CEC Palace!

Ah La Belle Epoque, the beautiful era, such grandeur! I love how CEC Palace is reflected on the glass facade of the adjacent modern building.

That is just amazing! The historic importance and the beauty of the structure is commendable. Loved the pictures.
Great content,
Happy Sunday!

Hi @bluemoon I loved the pictures and the relevance of of the book you have. Truly it's evidently beautiful. The cafe in the alley is so beautiful with background as CEC palace. I would love to eat there.
Keep flourishing!

Wow! This alley is great, it must have been a pleasure having a coffee in this place.

The old with the new spectacular buildings and great photos to show it all 👍

Something we don't have a lot of here in Australia.

If I was seated in a cafe or restaurant right across the CEC Palace, I'd probably not be paying attention to my romantic date as my eyes would be completely fixated on that gorgeous building! Who wouldn't be spellbound by its magnificent architecture? With its eclectic architectural style, I'd be busy gazing at all the interesting compositions of details of this masterpiece! What dominant feeling or emotion, if any, have you experienced in the presence of that historical monument @bluemoon?

Wow! That's such a marvelous way to experience nostalgia! I'm happy that you get to pass by that gorgeous building frequently. Its visual appeal and architectural presence would surely be a therapeutic experience for you. Stay safe and have a wonderful week!

I am amazed at how much it has changed for me! Looking at how the city was designed and building the new with the old, making them flow beautifully is an art.

I admire how well you address any subject and cover the material with a voice that I can easily understand, with pictures that show off the beauty of Bucharest. Thank you!

I get just as much pleasure from yours.
