[EN-ES] Walking through Argentina: The Pink House 🏃‍♀️🏩💂 Paseando por Argentina: La Casa Rosada.

Hi hivers - Hola hivers

How is my dear Hive community? I hope that very well, one day before returning to Uruguay, I began to walk around different places in the city, I walked a lot but I got to know incredible places and I learned that the best way to get to know a new city is by walking, exploring every corner and learning from the posters, plates and information of the city.

That day there were several points that were very close to each other, the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Plaza de Mayo and the Casa Rosada, so today I come to tell you a little about the latter.

The Casa Rosada is one of the most emblematic buildings in Buenos Aires, we can find it on Balcarce 50 street, in the Monserrat neighborhood of the Argentine capital, unfortunately since it was January 3 it was closed to the public and I could not access the museum of the government house that is inside.

.

This building was built in its entirety in 1898. It has 4 floors and its total area is 26,000 square meters. It should be noted that the structure as it is currently known is the merger of two adjoining buildings: the presidential headquarters and the Palacio de Correos. (at the corner of Hipólito Yrigoyen and Balcarce).

Since 1942 this building has been considered a historical monument of the nation, but why is this building so important? The reason is that the Casa Rosada is the seat of the country's Executive Power and inside it we find the office of the President of the Argentine Nation.

Previously (around 1800) this building was known as "Royal Fortress of San Juan Baltasar de Austria" and at the time Spanish viceroys resided to later become the place where authorities of the successive governments of the country worked.

Personally, visit the surroundings of the pink house after leaving the metropolitan cathedral which is located next to the Plaza de Mayo, it is in front of the pink house, honestly the building is so beautiful and striking that you can see more than 300 meters away.

If we look closely we find that the building is not symmetrical, this happens because in its beginnings there were two buildings, which were joined because the post office overshadowed the presidential headquarters which was right next door, that is why they decided to do an arch and replicate the facades turning it into a single and imposing building.

If we talk about color, surely many ask the question why is the pink house pink? it is said that President Sarmiento ( who we spoke recently on my blog during a visit to his museum ) decided this color by one of the two theories framed in history

The first, explains that it was a measure to express the union of the democratic people due to the differences between both parties that were identified with the color red and white, in their mixture resulting in a pink color.

The second theory is a little more practical, at that time the mixture of ox blood and lime was used to make paints due to its high durability and waterproofing that it provided, like the previous one, its mixture expresses a pink color .

If I had to choose, I would prefer to believe in the first one, which one do you choose?

Saludos !!

I love the places that you visited, I love your photography too. Good evening!

Thank you very much Argentina has a great architectural value the views are beautiful.

You're welcome (^_^)

I am more inclined to believe the first theory, the fusion of 2 colors representing the union of 2 opposing parties.

I'm glad to know that we agree so the vote goes 2-0
