Pórticos del Ávila | Architecture + Design 🏙ENG| ESP

Hello lovers of Architecture + Design I am enjoying very much this stage of design of the HOGAR VERDE for it I was also doing a tour in my memory of the places where I have lived, I started thinking about what I liked and what I did not like in designs and spaces, making this analysis I decided to share a little of the Residential Complex Pórticos del Ávila, is located in San Bernardino in the city of Caracas - Venezuela.

The Residential Complex consists of 4 towers, these of exposed concrete with beautiful modern lines and large windows of blue tones, the sides of the buildings are painted brick color, The Tower residences are divided into two stages, Tower A - B and Tower C - D each stage is independent in both entrances and residential area.

The buildings have 17 floors, a mezzanine level, the last two floors are PH Duplex, a recreation area with gardens, pool and party room, with two levels of basement parking and materos. The apartments are 70 m2, with a distribution of living - dining room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom, ventilation and lighting are very profitable.

The design of the apartments is for me very nice with walls, columns and concrete ceiling and these large windows, from floor to ceiling in the living room and in the bedrooms, this makes the lighting and ventilation are profitable as well as wonderful view to enjoy the Avila Hill, this mountain beautifies the whole city, Caracas is a valley protected by it. The downside is that the glass of the windows also generates heat in the sunniest hours.

Another negative thing is that the kitchen is also a corridor to the bedrooms, this can be a bit uncomfortable because of the smells when cooking and the bathroom is at the end of the corridor next to the kitchen and although it has very good ventilation I do not like a bathroom next to the kitchen at all.

The architectural design, the common areas and the residences that are very quiet, I really liked the space, at one point I thought about buying an apartment there, but then I thought about it better and I really needed more space, the time I was in this apartment I really enjoyed it, it is a space for a single person, young couple and small families or those who are starting. For the stage of life I was living at that time was an ideal space for me, I was single and starting an independent project, as I was moving forward and becoming more aware of my love for nature, the reality of global warming, led me to create VIDA VERDE and we are on the way to take the first steps for the construction of the EcoVillage.

In your previous posts, you mentioned that you were living in an apartment while waiting for the design and execution of Hogar Verde. Thank you for sharing it with us. It's a beautiful residential complex with cool amenities.

The upside to living in a high-rise building is the view especially with the mountain skyline that you have there. There are both advantages and disadvantages, it all depends on what suits our lifestyle and preference and as you mentioned, the stage of life we're at.

Hi @discoveringarni 😀

Thanks for always commenting and being part of this Green Project - Ecovillage experience, these days were full of busy days, but I'm back.

Really the altitude brings that great advantage to enjoy the view, the residences are really beautiful, in this apartment I lived before moving to the Municipality el Hatillo, in the outskirts of the city, a beautiful mountainous area, which is where I am now, near the land where we will build the Green Home, it is a small and modest annex, I will also publish about this experience.

In densely populated urban areas, residing in high-rise skyscraper communities is becoming the norm. As long as the provided spaces are well-designed and conducive to a city lifestyle, there are no issues with that.

The downside is that the glass of the windows also generates heat in the sunniest hours.

What architectural solutions or remedies have you done to lower the temperature of these glass panels? Did you share this problem with the Architects or Interior Designers?

Hi!!! Good question @storiesoferne

I still do not share this approach with architects, but I think the most useful to solve this is the study of the environment before making the design, to get the best of it, to know where the sun rises and sets, to make good use of daylight, air currents, to place the correct ventilation, temperatures, so that the design can be given the best use of what nature offers us and our environment.

In the case of these residences I think we should plant a little more trees to help reduce the temperature, the most affected apartments are those with the best view to the north to the mountain of Avila.

But while this is going on you can only turn on the air conditioning and close the blinds, but the real solution is to have more vertical gardens in the buildings and more trees that help to improve the temperature.
