Greetings fellow #Hive members, today I bring you a series of photos related to cathedrals in the city, where I will mention 3 of them with a little bit of their history, architecture, facades and locations within what is Capital Federal in the city of Buenos Aires.

The main idea was to be able to access these cathedrals and capture in photos both outside and inside them, unfortunately the day I made the tour I could not access either because they were closed and others did not allow entry by protocols that we already know.

It is a Catholic church that was originally built between 1731 and 1754 but the present facade and towers were modified or added during 1907 and 1911. The architect of this work was the Italian Andrés Blanqui.

The cathedral, which is located in the Monserrat neighborhood, currently has a Bavarian baroque style since its construction expressed a more somber style in terms of its appearance. The remodeling that took place at the beginning of the 90's was in charge of the architect Ernesto Sakkmann, who gave the church the appearance it has today.

It has elements of Roman, Byzantine, Paleo-Christian and Ancient Greek art. As for its front façade, it has a Hellenistic Corinthian style with six colossal columns, in addition to having characteristics of Greek art for being decorated with human and divine sculptures.

Referring to these sculptures, it should be mentioned that they represent characteristics of the classical Greek style in terms of the inexpression in their faces and the intention to make movements when holding objects. They also present characteristics of the Hellenistic period since they wear clothes and have rectangular reliefs that represent traditional biblical episodes of Christianity in Ancient Rome and Paleochristian art.

A curious fact of this national patrimony is that this was the church of the childhood and adolescence of Pope Francis and it was here where he decided to dedicate his life to God at the age of 17.

i really like exploring and get to know more about the architecture of cathedrals, the three are pretty:)

Thank you very much @katrin-lux , they really are fascinating!

Your marvelous city is definitely rich in its diversity of architectural styles, and I'm simply impressed with the spectacular facades of those religious buildings, Which of the 3 cathedrals is your favorite one so far, and why? Was there an emotional connection with your choice?

A warm welcome @dimascastillo90 to the Architecture+Design Community! We're delighted to have you here.

Thank you very much @storiesoferne😀

The truth of these three, my favorite would be the cathedral of San Jose de Flores, for its sculptures, what they symbolize and for having a mixture of styles in its architecture ranging from neoclassical to Roman art and contains elements of Ancient Greece. I also like it for all the changes it has undergone since it was first built.

Okay, I see, that's a wonderful selection. Many thanks and have fun!

When it comes to structures, churches are the ones that I like most because of their intricate and old design. Those churches from Buenos Aires are equally amazing to thebones that I have seen (in photos) all over the world.
