Hello friends of Hive, as always it is a pleasure to greet you through this beautiful community, I hope you are spending some incredible days surrounded by endless blessings, I am happy to share with you some pictures of my last visit to one of the iconic malls of my city. It is the Tapías Shopping Center. .
Hola amigos de Hive, como siempre es un placer saludarlos a través de esta bella comunidad, espero estén pasando unos días increíbles rodeados de un sín fin de bendiciones, estoy feliz de compartir con ustedes algunas fotografías de mi última visita a uno de los centros comerciales iconos de mi ciudad. Se trata del Centro Comercial las Tapias.
A few days ago I was riding a bus with my son on Andres Bello Avenue, one of the main avenues of the city of Merida and the one that connects the city with the different municipalities of the state, in the distance he saw some tanks of war, which caught his attention and he insisted me to stay there. Days later we decided to take a family outing and visited the Park, the army.
This site is beautiful, because here we can also connect with nature, thanks to its tall and leafy trees, and there are also two war tanks and some cannons on display. Doing some research I found in the book of Architect Francisco Sesto's a brief review of the site where he points out that it was inaugurated in 1973, as a tribute to the Venezuelan army.
I consider that this small park enhances the urbanism of the area and is quite a busy place, as it has become an important bus stop and a recreation site, especially children are attracted by the place, like my little son who quite enjoyed this visit. A visit that led us to the Mall, since it is right across the street.
Hace algunos días pasaba en autobús con mi hijo por la Avenida Andrés Bello, una de las principales Avenidas de la Ciudad de Mérida y la que comunica la ciudad con los distintos Municipios del Estado, a lo lejos él observó unos tanques de guerra, qué llamarón su atención y me insistía en quedarnos ahí. Días después decidimos dar un paseo familiar y visitamos el Parque, el ejército.
Este sitio es hermoso, porque aquí podemos conectarnos también con la naturaleza, gracias a sus altos y frondosos árboles, además se encuentran en exhibición dos tanques de guerra y algunos cañones. Investigando un poco encontré en el libro del Arquitecto Francisco Sesto una breve reseña del sitio donde señala que fue inaugurado en 1973, en homenaje al ejército Venezolano.
Considero que este pequeño parque realza el urbanismo de la zona y es un sitio bastante concurrido, ya que se ha convertido en una parada importante de autobús y un sitio de recreación, sobre todo los niños se sienten atraídos por el lugar, como mi pequeño hijo que disfruto bastante esta visita. Una visita que nos condujo al Centro Comercial, puesto que se encuentra justo al frente.
Just as aromas or a song can evoke memories of your life, there are places that transport you to a special moment or time, this mall makes me think of my adolescence and my recurring visits to the movies and video game arcades that can be found in this mall.
This is one of the first important shopping malls built in the city of Merida, I don't know the exact year it was inaugurated, but according to my parents it was already in operation by 1980. It is a mixed shopping center, in it we can enjoy recreational areas, such as discos, movie theaters, playgrounds and video game arcades, ice cream parlors and a well-known restaurant. On the other hand, we have commercial stores and also business offices such as real estate, public and private banks and a radio station. As you can see, it is a very complete and pleasant place.
It consists of first floor and 3 floors, plus a basement that leads to the parking lot, has four entrances named according to the cardinal points, I had so long without visiting it, I had forgotten how beautiful it is inside, so I admired it, as if it were the first time. Like me, my son was very excited to see this beautiful structure.
Upon entering the roof steals all the attention, for me it is a great architectural work, all my appreciation to who designed it, this beautiful dome, provides excellent lighting to the mall, plus the way they are arranged the various building elements that make it up, give us a harmonious and interesting view from any angle of the building.
Así como los aromas o una canción puede evocar recuerdos de tu vida, existen lugares que te transportan a algún momento o época especial, este centro comercial me hace pensar en mi adolescencia y en mis recurrentes visitas al cine y a las salas de videojuegos que podemos encontrar en este centro comercial.
Este es uno de los primeros centros comerciales de importancia construidos en la ciudad de Mérida, desconozco el año exacto en que fue inaugurado, pero según mis padres para el año 1980 ya estaba en funcionamiento. Es un centro comercial mixto, en él podemos disfrutar de áreas para la recreación, como discotecas, salas de cine, parques infantiles y salas de videojuegos, heladerías y un conocido restaurante. Por otro lado, tenemos tiendas comerciales y también oficinas empresariales como inmobiliarias, bancos públicos y privados y una emisora radial. Como ven, es un sitio bastante completo y agradable.
Está formado por Planta Baja y 3 pisos, más un sótano que nos lleva al estacionamiento, posee cuatro entradas nombradas de acuerdo a los puntos cardinales, tenía tanto tiempo sin visitarlo, que había olvidado lo hermoso que es su interior, así que lo admire, como si fuese la primera vez. Al igual que yo, mi hijo estaba muy entusiasmado, por conocer esta hermosa estructura.
Al entrar el techo se roba toda la atención, para mí es una gran obra arquitectónica, todo mi reconocimiento a quien lo diseño, esta hermosa cúpula, aporta una iluminación excelente al centro comercial, además la forma como se encuentran dispuestos los distintos elementos constructivos que lo conforman, nos regalan una vista armoniosa e interesante desde cualquier ángulo del edificio.
Undoubtedly, it is a great structure, which is maintained in good condition and most of its premises are in operation, another thing that I like a lot, is that the mezzanine slabs are coated with steel panels, I like how its brightness contrasts with the entire lighting system.
Sin duda, es una gran estructura, que se mantiene en un buen estado y la mayoría de sus locales, se encuentran en funcionamiento, otra de las cosas que me gustan mucho, es que las losas de entrepiso, están revestidas con paneles de acero, me gusta como su brillo contrasta con todo el sistema de luces.
I consider that its interior design is very well thought out, it is spacious and you can walk around the entire mall comfortably, from each floor you have a complete view of the place, we certainly enjoyed spending our afternoon here.
From the structural point of view, it is in good condition, I observed rectangular concrete columns of good size, which are in clean work, as well as the beams that are visible.
It has a system of concrete stairs, with intermediate landings on each floor and also has an escalator system, but these have been out of service for some time, but you can also use the elevator system, which is quite spacious and comfortable and works perfectly.
Considero que su diseño interior está muy bien pensado, es amplio y puedes recorrer todo el centro comercial con comodidad, desde cada piso tienes una vista completa del lugar, sin duda disfrutamos mucho pasar nuestra tarde aquí.
Desde el punto de vista estructural, se encuentra en buen estado, observé columnas rectangulares de concreto de buen tamaño, las cuales se ven en obra limpia, al igual que las vigas que están visibles.
Posee un sistema de escaleras de concreto, con descansos intermedios en cada piso y también posee un sistema de escaleras mecánicas, pero estas tienen tiempo que no funcionan, pero además puedes usar el sistema de ascensores, los cuales son bastante amplios y cómodos y funcionan perfectamente.
Fortunately, the playground was open, so my son and niece had fun for a while and we all enjoyed spending quality family time in a very nice and different place.
The playground is in the basement, on this level we can also find the restroom and the parking lot.
Nuestra experiencia fue muy grata, la atención es muy buena, aunque algunas tiendas estaban cerradas, como la heladería y la sala de juegos, esta última abre solo los fines de semana, lo que es razonable, ya que son los días que habitualmente las personas tienen libre para recrearse, pero antes, no era así, trabajaban todos los días, desde la pandemia, muchos sitios comerciales cambiaron por completo sus horarios de trabajo.
Afortunadamente, el parque infantil, si estaba abierto, así mi hijo y mi sobrina se divirtieron un rato y todos disfrutamos al pasar tiempo de calidad en familia, en un lugar muy bonito y diferente.
El parque queda en el sótano, en este nivel también podemos encontrar el baño y el estacionamiento.
I really like the color palette of its facades, those golden and pastel tones combine very well with those mental elements that are on its facade, as a kind of diagonal trellis, which enhances and beautifies the facade, above these we see the letters with the name of the mall, in metal.
All around, we see panoramic windows of smoked glass, with golden frames, so from inside we have a full view of the Sector, which by the way, in my opinion is one of the most beautiful in the city and bears the same name of the mall.
Another thing that impresses me and I like about its design is that all its facades are very similar and we have access to its interior from any of them.
Después de pasar un rato lleno de diversión dentro del Centro Comercial, me tomé unos minutos para tomar algunas fotografías en sus fachadas, podemos ver que el techo es una terraza accesible y las plantas tipo poseen un volado, en todo su alrededor.
Me gusta mucho la paleta de colores de sus fachadas, esos tonos dorados y pasteles combinan muy bien con esos elementos de mental que se encuentran en su fachada, como una especie de enrejado en diagonal, que realza y embellece la fachada, encima de estas vemos las letras con el nombre del centro comercial, en metal.
En todo su contorno, vemos ventanas panorámicas de vidrios ahumados, con marcos dorados, así que desde su interior tenemos una vista completa del Sector, que por cierto, a mi parecer es uno de los bonitos de la ciudad y lleva el mismo nombre del centro comercial.
Otra de las cosas que me impresiona y me gusta de su diseño es que todas sus fachadas son muy similares y tenemos acceso a su interior desde cualquiera de ellas.

The Tapías Shopping Center is a place worth visiting, it has a harmonious and pleasant atmosphere, where we can break the daily routine and spend a pleasant and fun time or even do our banking errands.
I hope that my publication has been to your liking, I will be sharing some buildings of my region that call my attention. In the following book, I consolidate some of the information about the park located in front of the Mall.
El Centro Comercial las Tapías, es un lugar que vale la pena visitar, tiene un ambiente armonioso y agradable, donde podemos romper la rutina diaria y pasar un rato ameno y divertido o incluso realizar nuestras diligencias bancarias.

Wow! It's a blessing that the military park was just nearby that shopping center. A double architectural treat for you and your family indeed! Most importantly, the design feature that struck me the most was the mall's spectacular facade. It would have turned out to be an ordinary-looking exterior but those golden trellises made a huge difference! They enhanced that building's defining character and made its appearance classier. 😊

Yes, the good thing about architecture is that we can appreciate it everywhere. All the works have great value and it is necessary to recognize them, like this fantastic idea of culminating the facade with this golden touch, which gives a very nice and elegant impression.
After writing my post I found the social networks of the mall, my dad was not wrong when he told me that by 1980 it was already working because it was inaugurated in 1979.
The skylight, it seems to be made of some kind of plastic and the trusses in metal tubes. I really like the way it looks.
