Architectural Buildings // Buildings With Histories/Memories

It is a great privilege to be here in this wonderful community for the first time and as you all know, this is my first time sharing in this community.

I am so happy when I learned about this community from a friend and so today, I decided to share with this great community some architectural buildings and designs I came across yesterday on my way to church.

I never knew street photography was a hard one, I must confess it is the hardest thing I have done but it's also a fun experience most especially with the motivation I got from my friends to try it out.

Yesterday I decided to do a little street photography but I was already shaking after taking just one shot. The stare I got from passersby, got me freaking out.

In my country Nigeria and precisely in my State Akwa Ibom State. When they see you raise your phone to take a shot, they give you a stare that can make you pray for the ground to open and swallow you up but thank God, yesterday I got the boldness to take these shots on my way to the church thanks to my friend.

I never knew the shot will come out as beautiful and superb as this and I am sure, sooner, I will start sharing my street photography/ architecture building and design with you guys so stay put.

I remember when I had no phone, whenever I come across this building usually used to wonder whenever I come across this building how the builders did it or perhaps what prompted the owner of this house to build this house in such a structure.

The building not only has the front but it has other buildings inside which we call boys quarter over here.

I not only love the house because of the simplicity, and extraordinary design and structure, but I also love it because it is my dream house. I just wish I and my hubby together, will build this for our family.

Funny enough, in the whole of this street, from the length and breadth of this street, no house is as beautiful as this house although it is one of the oldest buildings I have come across on this street, I am always amazed at the building any day I pass through.

Although I am not a lover of story buildings this house intrigues me and I can tell from the look even though it was repainted a few months ago to have this new look, that it holds memories shared by families and loved ones which cannot be forgotten. 😆, am I becoming more emotional now, I guess not but mere looking at this house, you can say it carries or perhaps so many memories have been stored in there by people.

This building also caught my attention, even though my friends asked me not to take the picture, I just couldn't. Just like the first architectural building above, this building from a look also carries family and loved one's memories that are stored in there and can not be forgotten.👇👇👇

This building is another old building but I keep on wondering why the owners have refused to re-structure the building or perhaps re-paint the building like those who had the above building did but one thing that surprises me more is that I still see people living in this building like nothing is happening when I on the other hand always freak out that one day, the building will collapse when it is tired of carrying the people.

IMG20210427145747.jpg

As the adage goes, the old things are quite stronger than the new ones, so I won't be surprised if the building does not collapse but still stands strong comes rain and sun.

I on the other hand freak out at the mention or sight of story building or staircase, I have a phobia for them but it beats my imagination they carry and store memories of families and loved ones, times spent together.

This building below is also an old architectural building. Its designs and structure are as well old but the building was re-painted to have a new look and

I would have suggested that most of the architectural building that is looking old should be demolished but knowing that they carry history and memories that would one day be passed on to the upcoming generation as a heritage makes it beautiful and amazing to be kept.

Looking from the roofing down to the design and structure speaks of the oldness of this building but yet still, their occupants are not willing to vacate the building anytime soon as they keep on repainting the building to keep it shiny and beautiful.

Who knows, just maybe the generations to come might decide to change the structure and design but they can not erase history or memories stored in those buildings. They can't erase the positive, negative, happiness, sadness and celebration shared in those building no matter how they try to erase them because memories/ history live long.

It would have been a privilege for me to share with you guys the architectural building structure we have in Akwa Ibom State, Uyo where I hail from that has so much history/memories stored in them but I think I will have to stop here until next time when I will be sharing more of these buildings with you all.

Thank you to every one of you who took out time to check out my post, I am grateful for that and do appreciate it greatly.

Your comments are so much appreciated as this is my first post in this community.

Bye for now and see you soon love you all🥰😍😘

Hello @evegrace! It's a delight to warmly welcome you to the Architecture+Design Community! I'm glad you were able to capture some interesting buildings while roaming the streets in your lovely neighborhood. That brick-colored house is attractive and looks like a private mansion.

In my country Nigeria and precisely in my State Akwa Ibom State. When they see you raise your phone to take a shot, they give you a stare that can make you pray for the ground to open and swallow you up

Seems like this has become a normal occurrence there. And I'm curious - do the people there always behave that way?

It sure has become the norm because many now do online business while those who are not aware of this thing want to use the picture for something diabolic or negative. So many of us got to be careful, so we are not harassed for taking a harmless picture or so they don't get the phone from us and destroy it thinking we want to do something bad with them.

Okay, I see. Paranoia has certainly crept into people's lives nowadays due to the ease of distribution, replication, and abuse of digital media online. Take care when you capture photos next time and make sure that all your devices are secure. Have a beautiful day!

Thank you for your great comment and concern, I really do appreciate it.

Hi @evergrace, thank you for clarifying it. When you mentioned the challenge of taking photos, now it made me understand why some architectural shots from your region were usually taken at an angle. Well done in taking the courage to take photographs. Welcome to Architecture+Design Community!

Yeah, we take pictures stylishly to avoid troubles and thank you for the welcome.

I am glad I was able to clarify that.

The first building is actually really nice, the red colour popping with interesting architectural features is mesmerising. I believe the rest of the buildings are weak to carry more load but maybe financial problem had held people over there.
You are indeed a keen observer, looking forward to see more from you:)

You can say that again. I love the first building so much, the colors and architectural design are amazing. Maybe, maybe not. I just can't tell because still see people living in them.

Those are some nice good structures, observing the environment around is a good sign of attentiveness. That's some good content, keep flourihsing!

Thank you so much for stopping by, I really do appreciate iy
