From my first walk through the city of Lima, I was amazed by the imposing buildings that stand out in the center of Lima. Although my knowledge of architectural art is very scarce, this does not prevent me from contemplating the beauty of such buildings.

I am a fan of most of the arthritic expressions that emerged in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Architecture is one of the things that I usually appreciate when I look at buildings from that era. I love the houses with balconies from the colonial era and the cobbled streets. That is why it was not difficult to fall in love with the old buildings of the city of Lima.

Edificio Rimac /Casa Roosevelt

What I got to know about this building is that it was built in 1919 and 1924. The architect who designed the work was Ricardo de la Jaxa Malachowski of Polish nationality. It is called the Rimac Building because it was built for the insurance company with the same name. I would never have imagined such a structure to be an apartment building.

This building is also called "Casa Roosevelt", which in my opinion, that name is much better, due to the avenue where it is located.

His architectural style is "Beaux arts", which I read is a classical academic style also known as "French academicism". In other words, it has a lot of French influence. Out of respect for the experts, I am not going to delve into the subject.

The building consists of four floors. As a curious fact, one of the most striking characteristics of this building is that it is exactly the same on its three sides.
It has one of the oldest elevators, one of the first to be installed at that time.
Although its façade has been restored, many people from Lima say that the inside is in ruins. This is something that I cannot assure because I have only observed it from the outside.

You're welcome, see you around

I have visited Lima in 2008 but I missed seeing this building. Where is it exactly? The architecture Casa Roosevelt is quite unusual due to its opulent Beaux-Arts style compared to the other institutional buildings. It's a beautiful building. Welcome to Architecture+Design Community!

Hi thanks for the friendly welcome. This building is located on the Paseo de los Heroes Navalles in the center of Lima.
There are many old buildings around but with a different architectural style, this was one of the ones that most caught my attention.

Thanks for replying to my question. It does draw attention. Cheers and have a nice day.

It's simply interesting how this Rimac Building or Casa Roosevelt appears. It may be one of the distinctive apartment buildings in the city center of Lima however, the exterior facade gives me the impression of being a royal institution or castle estate. This may be because of the Beaux Arts or French Academicism architectural style it has adopted. It would have been great also if you took closer photographs of that building to highlight its important details. All in all, the architecture is truly magnificent!

Greetings @kattycrochet, and a warm welcome to the Architecture+Design Community!

hi thanks for the friendly welcome. I also believed that it was some important institution like a government palace or something like that. Most of my friends have told me that it looks like Hogwarts from Harry Potter lol.
I hope to return soon and be able to take close-up photos to share with you. Greetings.

Yes, that's right. That building definitely looks like a set from the Harry Potter movies haha. If you could capture some beautiful photos of your featured architecture and design content at different locations, angles, and details of the exteriors and interiors in your next post, that would be excellent. Thanks a lot for your support.
