Hola comunidad, les saludo con respeto y cariño desde la República Bolivariana de Venezuela. Pido a Dios que todos ustedes se encuentren muy bien de salud en compañía de sus seres queridos. Hoy traigo dos historia interesante en un mismo lugar. Si, así mismo como lo está leyendo, dos historias que nos muestran como, en un mismo lugar, la Arquitectura del ayer le da paso a la modernidad generando opiniones coincidentes y diversas ante una realidad de Ingeniería moderna. Ahora les invito a seguir leyendo para que conozcan el dilema y si es de su gusto, al finalizar la lectura del post, me gustaría leer su opinión al respecto y desde ya te doy las gracias por tu apoyo.

Today I bring two interesting stories in the same place. Yes, just as you are reading it, two stories that show us how, in the same place, the Architecture of yesterday gives way to modernity, generating coinciding and diverse opinions before a reality of modern Engineering. En la tarde de hoy, miércoles 21 de julio de 2021, mi esposa y yo salimos a hacer una diligencia financiera, al llegar a la entidad bancaria ella entró y yo me quedé afuera, mientras la esperaba observé tres edificio muy bonitos, en unidad de diseño formando un complejo, que me llamaron la atención por la hermosa fachada de color azul e imponentes torres. En lo que mi amada esposa salió de la entidad bancaria le señalé el Centro Galipán e inmediatamente ella tomó su teléfono y comenzó a fotografiarlo, pero por lo grande decidimos recorrer toda la manzana donde está ubicado sin dejar de tomar fotos de las distintas fachadas las cuales se observan desde las cuatro calles que rodean aquel enorme complejo empresarial.

On the afternoon of today, Wednesday July 21, 2021, my wife and I went out to do a financial diligence, when we got to the bank she entered and I stayed outside, while I was waiting for her I observed three very beautiful buildings, in a unit of design forming a complex, which caught my attention by the beautiful blue facade and imposing towers. As my beloved wife left the bank, I pointed out the Galipán Center and she immediately took her phone and began to photograph it, but because of the big time we decided to walk the entire block where it is located without stopping taking photos of the different facades which they can be seen from the four streets that surround that huge business complex.

Comencemos con la primera historia que se remonta al año 1952, la cual tuvo como protagonista la belleza arquitectónica del antiguo Edificio Galipán: integrado por tres torres unidas, considerado en su momento “la unidad de vivienda mas avanzada de latinoamérica,” tuvo 14 pisos que totalizaban 36 metros de altura (la más alta de la capital, pudiéndose divisar la totalidad del valle de Caracas) 28.000 m2 de construcción, en los cuales el Ingeniero y Arquitecto Gustavo Guinand Vanderwalle desarrolló 135 apartamentos, 29 locales comerciales, 24 oficinas, un bar-restaurante en el último nivel, un garaje con estación de servicios para 80 vehículos y estacionamientos al aire libre. Existe un dato curioso que vale la pena mencionar porque provocó divergencia de opiniones y problemas políticos y hasta legales; resulta que el antiguo Edificio Galipán, en el mes de julio del año 1999, fue declarado Patrimonio histórico del Municipio Chacao por las autoridades de aquel ayuntamiento, pero esas mismas autoridades, meses después, derogaron el decreto municipal y firmaron la demolición del Edificio, medida que se ejecutó en el año 2000.

Let's start with the first story dating back to 1952, which featured the architectural beauty of the old Galipán Building: made up of three joined towers, considered at the time "the most advanced housing unit in Latin America," it had 14 floors totaling 36 meters high (the highest in the capital, being able to see the entire Caracas valley) 28,000 m2 of construction, in which the Engineer and Architect Gustavo Guinand Vanderwalle developed 135 apartments, 29 commercial premises, 24 offices, a bar-restaurant on the top level, a garage with a service station for 80 vehicles and outdoor parking spaces. There is a curious fact that is worth mentioning because it caused divergence of opinions and political and even legal problems; It turns out that the old Galipán Building, in the month of July 1999, was declared a Historic Heritage of the Chacao Municipality by the authorities of that city council, but those same authorities, months later, repealed the municipal decree and signed the demolition of the Building, a measure which was executed in the year 2000.

El antiguo Edificio Galipán estaba ubicado en el mismo lugar en el que hoy está el Centro Empresarial Galipán, Avenida Francisco de Miranda por el Norte, la calle El Parque por el Este, la avenida Tamanaco por el Sur y al Oeste la calle Mohedano, de la Urbanización El Rosal, del Municipio Chacao del Estado Miranda en la República Bolivariana de Venezuela. Otro dato interesante de resaltar es que el antiguo Edificio Galipán fue construído en un lapso de 19 meses desde agosto del año 1950 a marzo del 1952 y fue demolido en el año 2000. El nuevo Centro Empresarial Galipán concluye su construcción el 30 de junio de 2009.

The old Galipán Building was located in the same place where the Galipán Business Center is located today, Francisco de Miranda Avenue to the North, El Parque Street to the East, Tamanaco Avenue to the South and Mohedano Street to the West, from the El Rosal Urbanization, of the Chacao Municipality of the Miranda State in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Another interesting fact to highlight is that the old Galipán Building was built in a period of 19 months from August 1950 to March 1952 and was demolished in 2000. The new Galipán Business Center concludes its construction on June 30, 2009.

El nuevo Centro Empresarial Galipán está integrado por tres edificio para oficinas de 12 pisos, un Pent House y cinco niveles de estacionamiento y locales comerciales. En su planta baja, a nivel de la Av. Miranda, tiene amplias áreas públicas complementada con una obra del artista venezolano Ricardo Benaim , un restaurante, café, una agencia bancaria y los vestíbulos de los tres edificios.

The new Galipán Business Center is made up of three 12-story office buildings, a Pent House and five parking levels and commercial premises. On its ground floor, at the level of Av. Miranda, it has large public areas complemented with a work by the Venezuelan artist Ricardo Benaim, a restaurant, cafe, a banking agency and the lobbies of the three buildings.

Investigando en internet encontré una información valiosa la cual transcribo a continuación: El Centro Empresarial Galipán, es un edificio inteligente, de oficinas, comercio y estacionamiento, sustentable y con ahorro de energía, las tuberías del aire acondicionado van por el suelo con agua helada para mayor eficiencia, alfombras reciclables, iluminación y griferia automatizada. Su imagen moderna y de alta tecnología combina elementos del presente con el pasado para recordar al Edificio Galipán. Researching on the internet I found valuable information which I transcribe below: The Galipán Business Center, is an intelligent building, for offices, commerce and parking, sustainable and with energy savings, the air conditioning pipes go along the ground with ice water for greater efficiency, recyclable carpets, automated lighting and taps. Its modern and high-tech image combines elements of the present with the past to remember the Galipán Building. Hello @marcosmilano71, this is an interesting read indeed. The Galipán Center was fortunate to have 2 precious lives during its existence. First, as a prestigious housing unit, and then later on, as a brand new business landmark. With the demolition of the old architecture on the same site, the current infrastructure is truly blessed to be reborn to adapt to our latest technology and generation. I had the opportunity to meet the old building since it was an icon of Venezuelan civil architecture, I never understood the reason that led to its demolition to make way for what is today, Tulipán Business Center; Yesterday I tried to find out and I didn't find anything about it, what I did find was mixed opinions from people who never agreed with the demolition and others that if it was necessary. Some say that this structure lacks the artistic touch that the previous one had and others say that it was necessary to give way to modernity. Comments come and go, the truth is that they agree that the old one was a true work of art of the Architecture of the 50s but that this is avant-garde ... The truth is that it seemed an interesting story to publish in our wonderful community . Happy day full of blessings. Regardless of the beauty, both of the old Galipán building and the new one, under whose auspices, I have no doubt that the architects applied or tried to apply the best and most innovative of each era, if there is something that I deeply detest, it is the nonsense of the bureaucracy and the terrible mischief that is committed in its name. I cannot, nor will I ever be able to understand, how you can demolish a building protected under the guarantee of Heritage of Interest (artistic, historical, cultural or a group of all) to make another in its place. For the rest, I have nothing against the new building, which seems slim, harmonious, modern ... unless it is possibly in the wrong place. Best regards
Independientemente de la belleza, tanto del antiguo edificio Galipán como del nuevo, bajo cuyos auspicios, no me cabe duda de que los arquitectos aplicaron o intentaron aplicar lo mejor y más innovador de cada época, si hay algo que detesto profundamente, es el sinsentido de la burocracia y de los terribles desaguisados que se cometen en su nombre. No puedo, ni podré entender nunca, cómo se puede demoler un edificio protegido bajo la garantía de Patrimonio de Interés (artístico, histórico, cultural o un conjunto de todos) para hacer otro en su lugar. Por lo demás, no tengo nada contra el nuevo edificio, que me parece esbelto, armonioso, moderno...salvo que posiblemente esté en el lugar equivocado. Saludos cordiales
Friend @juancar347 I totally agree with you. Yesterday I searched and searched but did not find the real reason for the demolition of the Old Building. I presume that some structural flaw was found by the experts so that the Chacao Municipality Councilors decided to reverse the Decree that they themselves had voted a few months earlier. The truth is that I do not have the information, I only know that this measure generated a forceful reaction from the people, some were in favor and others against the demolition, in the end the demolition of what some called "A marvel of the Architecture of the fifties" Receive a virtual hug full of blessings, positive energy and lots of light.

The center's history depicts the old and the contemporary society. Looking at the images and reading the write up, it seems both building plays an important part of your history. Sad to see that buildings are demolished overtime to give way for the new ones, but it is what it is. Change is inevitable and it can bring new excitement to the community. !PIZZA

Certainly, that's life, the old gives way to the new; but in this case it seems that the old was better, more artistic and at the same time more functional. I understand that the aesthetic presented by the previous one was a true work of art of the architecture of the 50s. I knew the old structure and it seemed resistant and in good condition, I never understood why it was demolished, I imagine that the Councilors of the time had a compelling reason to reverse the decree that they themselves had approved, giving the old building a patrimonial character of the Municipality of Chacao. The truth is that the old is gone and the new looks emponent, giving Avenida Francisco de Miranda a touch of modernity.
