announcing the winners of the 10th guess the shadow contest

in Shadow Hunters3 years ago (edited)

50% of the beneficiary rewards to this post go in support of #hive-179017

so i was hanging out at that place where shadows walk on water and after watching how they did it i thought i would give it a go. in order to keep my feet dry i thought it best to run at first and see how it went
p1270077_edited.jpg
amazingly it worked. as i was relishing in the thrill of the moment, two teenagers came flying by on their bikes. they were so fast i barely managed to take their photo. i was proud i reacted so swiftly so i immediately called them to show them the image. i was quite surprised and frankly disappointed to see their shadows were so faint. mine was clear enough.
p1270093.jpg
they just laughed and explained "that's because we were going so fast"
"oh, come on, no way!"
"yes, seriously. do you realize that when you travel at the speed of light you don't cast any shadow...?" the blonde guy exclaimed
"WHAT??" i challenged
"think about it." the taller guy interjected "if you are holding a garden hose and quickly slide your hand through the stream of water there is only a slight interruption in the flow. if you could move your hand quick enough the break in the flow would be so short it would be imperceptible.
light and shadows work just like that"

"could i by any chance interest you two in judging a shadow guessing contest?"
i kind of grasped their logic but wasn't overly convinced that these guys were going fast enough on their bikes to make their shadow significantly fainter.
i did need some judges though and these guys obviously knew a thing or two.

"so what's the mystery image?" they asked in unison
"this here" i showed them.
p1260705.jpg

"what's that???" they both exclaimed
p1260706.jpg
"it's a vintage electric bread toaster from the 1930's. back then folks toasted bread on only one side or at least only one side at a time"
"HUH??!!. are you kidding?? how's anybody supposed to guess that?
if you've never even knew they existed how's it possible to guess what it is?" the blonde guy shouted

"what were you thinking? are you trying to keep all the prizes for yourself??"
"no.no" i meekly hesitated " i, uh, i just wanted the contestants to use their imagination..."
"that's crazy," the taller one interrupted. " are all your contests like this?? man we're gonna make sure everybody gets well rewarded this time!"
"this old guy's brain is toast!" added the blonde "why not just take normal photos like everybody else?"
before i could muster a response they determined the results and disappeared in a flash without even casting a shadow.

so here they are
1 HIVE each as a venwood special award to

@itsfall173 for: Oooh Wow!!! Have you visited Karl the giant from Big Fish??? Because that shadow cannot be anything other than the hinge of Karl's door... What is he going to do now without his hinge??? Do you know how difficult it is to find someone to fix a door of that size? :)

@nineclaws for: This is a Life Signpost comprising empty space shapes to test one’s individual soul growth, which is determined by how a soul weaves in and out of the hole/whole patterns and measured by the universal infinite in a mysterious and unknowable process. The entire Life Signpost is balanced by the above and below symbols on each side.

1 HIVE to

@miriam11 for: Esta es la sombra de una alegre y divertida bisagra bailarina cantando: "Dale a tu cuerpo alegría Macarena... Heeee ¡Macarena! Aaayyy.
Jajajaja", translated to english: this is the shadow of a cheerful and funny hinge dancer singing: "Give your body joy Macarena Heeee, Macarena! Aaayyy. Jajajaja,"

50 POINTS each to:
@livinguktaiwan for: I know, it's a outdoor stand with built in microphones for karaoke when you have a summer barbeque!!!!! 😃

@katimar for: IS A SPIDER THAT ATE THE FINGERS OF E.T. THE ALIEN.

40 POINTS each to:
@olgavita for: I may sound strange, but can it be a windvane on the roof?

@jearo101 for: I think it is a post in the road, usually can be seen when we are driving our car in any cross roads it is a traffic light. :)

@playfulfoodie for: Movies and tv shows tell me this is a telephone pole!

@makulit for: Could it be a supporting post like for a deck or roof for example?

@atlantiss for: I'm guessing that is a street sign

that's it, a big thanks to all. i hope you appreciate this week's judges more than
i did. they awarded two venwood prizes when there was only supposed to be one. i guess they liked elaborate funny replies more than they liked me. keep that in mind for the new contest which has already begun here:
