En las nubes

Siempre viviste en las nubes,
mirando el mundo desde una bruma blanca
de densidad variable.

Hablabas más con las aves que con los humanos,
y sabias más de corrientes de aire
que de calles y avenidas.

Un día miraste entre el rocío de la mañana
a alguien a la distancia.
Era como tú, un habitante de las alturas.
Pero no era nube, era lluvia,
No era algodón, era tormenta.

Al llegar la tarde, se encontraron frente a frente.
Tu calmo y difuso. Ella intensa y concreta.
Parecía una relación sin futuro,
hasta que entre ambos se formó un arcoíris,
un puente que los retó a cruzar.

Up in the clouds

You always had your head in the clouds,
looking at the world through a white mist
of varying density.

You talked more to birds than to people,
and you knew more about air currents
than about streets and avenues.

One day, through the morning mist,
you saw someone in the distance.
She was like you, a dweller of the heights.
But she wasn’t a cloud—she was rain;
she wasn’t cotton—she was a storm.

As evening fell, you found yourselves face to face.
You were calm and vague. She was intense and direct.
It seemed like a relationship with no future,
until a rainbow formed between you,
a bridge that dare you to cross over.
