Me derrotó la impaciencia
y mi falta de conciencia
me mandó al cielo presente.
Yo que era un niño decente,
incapaz de causar daño.
Caí al último peldaño
en la escala del afecto.
Humano el peor defecto
es la ira por un engaño.

¿Qué culpa tienen los gatos
de rasguñar lo que encuentren?
Ignorados se resienten
y son rencorosos natos.
No recuerdan esos ratos
de caricias y rocolas.
No les gusta ni hacer colas
por una querencia nueva
ni ignorar lo que se mueva
sean ratones o bolas.

I guess it was number seven,
and being defeated by haste.
I threw awareness to waste
and that sent me to cats’ heaven.
I was a decent boy Kevin,
unaware of causing harm.
This made me lose all my charm.
My relationship was wrecked.
Humans have the worst defect.
They’d rather lose their right arm.
II
Why put the blame solely on cats?
They can’t help scratching around.
If you ignore they wear a crown,
they can store grudges like rats.
They can be blind like most bats,
ignore caresses and climb walls
They cannot ignore the calls
that come after some new hooves,
or miss anything that moves,
whether they are mice or balls.
