Welcome Hivers to my new post, in this opportunity, I want to share with you one of the books that have made me think and cry the most. This book was given to me when I was 9, I believe, in my First Communion, our catechist gave it to us as a celebration. I think it was one of the first books I read seriously, before I was even a potterhead.
Bienvenidos Hivers a mi nuevo post, en esta oportunidad, les quiero compartir uno de los libros que más me han hecho reflexionar y llorar. Este libro me lo regalaron cuando tenía 9, creo, en mi Primera Comunión, nuestra catequista nos lo dio como celebración. Creo que fue uno de los primeros libros que leí con seriedad, antes incluso de ser potterhead.
What is it about?
¿De qué trata?
El libro cuenta la historia de la Beata Laura Vicuña. Esta beata, nació en Chile y quedó huérfana de padre a corta edad. Su madre, las llevó a ella y a su hermana menor a una nueva ciudad donde comenzó a trabajar en una hacienda. Mientras Laura y su hermana estudiaban en un internado de monjas.
The book tells the story of Blessed Laura Vicuña. This blessed, was born in Chile and was orphaned by her father at a young age. Her mother took her and her younger sister to a new city where she began to work on a farm. While Laura and her sister were studying at a nun's boarding school.
Sin embargo, al ir a casa, las hermanas tenían que rezar solas, porque su madre, aunque las acompañaba a veces, tenía que trabajar largas jornadas para el dueño de la Hacienda. De lo contrario, recibía castigos fuertes, algunos de los cuales fueron vistos por Laura e incluso los sufrió.
However, when they went home, the sisters had to pray alone, because their mother, although she accompanied them sometimes, had to work long hours for the owner of the Hacienda. Otherwise, she received severe punishments, some of which were seen by Laura and she even suffered them.
A lo largo del libro cuentan las vivencias de la joven que quería que su madre saliera de ese horrible lugar. Así que, ora todas las noches para que su madre no sufra más, incluso quiso dar su vida a cambio.
Throughout the book they tell the experiences of the young woman who wanted her mother to leave that horrible place. So, she prays every night that her mother will not suffer anymore, she even wanted to give her life in return.

Why do I recommend it?
¿Por qué lo recomiendo?
Because Laura was a child when she sacrificed everything, for her mother. She was the example of her little sister and the girls at boarding school. She was the one who helped and was the one who cared for those in need. She wasn't an adult, she was just a teenager, a girl who had lost enough.
Porque Laura era una niña cuando sacrificó todo, por su madre. Ella era el ejemplo de su hermanita y de las niñas en el internado. Era quien ayudaba y era quien atendía a quien lo necesitaba. Ella no era una adulta, era una adolescente apenas, una chica que ya había perdido suficiente.
Sin embargo, es gracias a su fe en Dios que su madre renuncia a su trabajo y vuelve a su ciudad natal junto a su hermanita. Quien recibió becas para estudiar gracias a su comportamiento y quien siguiendo los pasos de su hermana brindó su ayuda. Es una historia de fe, de sacrificio y de amor. Cosas que a veces se nos olvida que pueden venir de los más jóvenes.
However, it was because of her faith in God that her mother quit her job and returned to her hometown with her little sister. She received scholarships to study because of her behavior and following in her sister's footsteps helped. It is a story of faith, sacrifice and love. Things that we sometimes forget can come from the youngest.
If you haven't read it, I recommend it and hope you like it as much as I do. It is one of the stories that reminds us that we always have to trust. I say goodbye and we read each other in my next post.
