Since this summer, I am working for a translation project for a book about Bitcoin titled "Bitcoin: Everything divided by 21 million" by Knut Svanholm.
After Covid-19, we now experience quite tough time. Due to less workforce, less quality of services, money printing, inflation and many other negative elements, we may feel bitter and getting less kind to others. The society itself as well. I notice this these days and feel sad about it. I would like to keep myself away from this negative spiral, not to accelerate anger in the society and would like to live peacefully.
The Bitcoin book tells me value of time and value of life. And questions what money is. By thinking about time and money, I felt like reading "Momo" by Michael Ende again.
It may be fourth or fifth time I read the book since my childhood. Always I have different insights from the book. Initially I just read it as a kids story. I started to understand the ideas about money and time implied in the story. This time I see our current tough situation in the story. People feel bitter about their life, try to save time and money but their efforts are in vain.
I cannot describe well the vague connection I sense between "Momo" and Bitcoin but there are something in common. I will read the book further.
I think "Momo" is one of the books I will read in my life again and again. I think it is a great read for Hive users who are interested in currency, life, time and peace.

Covid-19の後、私たちは今、かなり厳しい時期に生きていると思います。労働力の減少、サービスの質の低下、貨幣の印刷、インフレ、戦争、その他の多くのネガティブな要素によって、私たちは苦々しく感じ、他人への優しさを失っているかもしれません。社会そのものもそうです。サービススタッフに当たり散らしたり、当られたサービススタッフが怒りで応戦したりする場面をみかけました。ビジネスがお客さんを不当に扱うシーンも。戦時中のウクライナに家族を帰った友人が限られた電気で過ごした体験も聞きました。
この社会のどんより感はなんとも悲しくて、できればこの負のスパイラルから距離を置いて、私自身は怒らずに社会の怒りを加速させず、平和に暮らしたいと思っています。
冒頭で書いた『Everything divided by 21 million』は、時間と人生の価値を教えてくれます。そして、お金とは何かという問いを投げかけてきます。時間とお金、社会について考えていると、ミヒャエル・エンデの『モモ』をもう一度読みたくなりました。
『モモ』を読むのは、子供の頃以来4回目か5回目です。いつも違う気づきがあります。最初は子供向けの物語として読んでいました。徐々にお金と時間についての考え方が盛り込まれていることを知りました。今回、私はこの物語の中に、現在の厳しい状況を見ています。人々は自分の生活を苦々しく思い、時間貯蓄銀行の灰色の紳士たちにそそのかされて時間を節約し、お金を貯めようとしますが、その努力は無駄になってしまいます。
『モモ』とビットコインの間に感じる漠然としたつながりはまだうまく表現できません。この数日で読み進めながら、何が共通するのか考えてみようと思います。『モモ』は私が人生で何度も読み返す本になるでしょう。お金、人生、時間、平和に興味のあるHiveユーザーにはおすすめの一冊です。

I rewatched it recently and I was stunned. And sad; most of the people my age watched it, but it seems they don't remember.

Hehe I already watched the "Momo" movie partially on YT with my daughter. It seemed it was too early for her though. I also found audio book on YT today. I will listen to it for my German study in this weekend :)
There may be a time lag from the original publication but my generation in Japan is also Momo generation. My partner knew it and many people remember the title and author name at least.
モモ大好きです！本もミュージカルもどちらもよいなと思います。こういう本は何度でも読めちゃいますよね。大人になってからどんないい本を読んでも、子供の頃に読んだ本が記憶に残っているような気がします。

いくつか何度も読む本ってあるんですよね。大人になって読んで良かった本って、『ハッカーと画家』（勢い余って仕事をやめてしまいました）、Wikileaks関連の本とか（検閲耐性のあるシステムへの興味の第一歩）、『デジタル・ゴールド』（ビットコイン！）とか・・・あれ、でもなんかつながっている気がしてきました 😁

haven't watched or read momo. I am pretty intrigued because of this review.
