The passion for reading is one of the ways of also knowing real stories that seem fiction, in addition these stories do not give to understand reasons why the author had to leave his native Colombia. Today I will review one of the books by "Gabriel García Márquez" that tells a true story about a shipwrecked man who spent days at sea in the Caribbean, where the writer Gabriel García, as a journalist, carried out an informative work on that event, writing this book where he also explains a little of the reasons why, Gabriel García had to leave his country for a period of time, in short this book cost him exile and was his first book. This book began only as a first-hand report, narrated by its protagonist, and later, perhaps without knowing its author, it would become one of the literary jewels and one of the author's most recognized books.

La pasión por la lectura es una de las formas de también conocer historias reales que parecen ficción, además estas historias no dan a entender razones por las cuales el autor tuvo que abandonar su natal Colombia. El día de hoy les haré un review de uno de los libros de “Gabriel García Márquez” que narra una historia real, sobre un náufrago que pasó días en altamar en el caribe, donde el escritor Gabriel García, como periodista realizó un trabajo informativo sobre ese suceso, escribiendo este libro donde también explica un poco de las razones del por qué, Gabriel García debió abandonar su país por un período de tiempo, en pocas palabras este libro le costó el exilio y fue su primer libro. Este libro inició sólo como un reportaje de primera mano, narrado por su protagonista, para luego, tal vez sin saberlo su autor, se convertiría en una de las joyas literarias y uno de los libros más reconocidos del autor.

Based on a true story, "Tales of a castaway" tells the story of "Luis Alejandro Velasco" who suffered a fall from the ship "ARC caldas" who was going from Alabama to Colombia loaded with goods. In the story told by Luis Alejandro, he tells how “due to an oversight and when a load was released from the ship, it fell into the sea and was not seen by the rest of the crew. Luis spent 10 days adrift at the mercy of the sun, the sea and sea creatures, where the only thing that accompanied him was the hopes of being rescued and a sea bird that visited him. On the high seas Luis lived the most horrifying sensations and fears, being able to understand how punctual certain species can be, such as a shark that skirted him every afternoon at the same time and visited him, perhaps while waiting for his death. As the days went by, the dehydration made him feel more overwhelmed and he felt that the elapsed time was getting longer and longer. In his survival tirade he launched himself on his companion bird and like a wild animal tore it apart with his teeth and that was the food that until as little as five days later he could manage to have something to eat. Ten days later, he reached the mainland in an unknown population, realizing that his tragedy, even after being found and being on land, had not ended. The story of this castaway captive the young journalist Gabriel García who, due to the veracity of the story, earned himself having to be an exile. I will describe three very important parts of this book: 1. What is Gabriel García's motive for writing this story?. 2. Rhythm of the story. 3. What was behind the events and why the author was exiled?. This book marks a starting point in the history of this writer on a personal level and in his career as a writer, thus managing to write one of his best titles that established him as an excellent author of great stories.
Basada en una historia real, “Relatos de un náufrago” narra la historia de “Luis Alejandro Velasco” quien sufrió una caída del barco “ARC caldas” quien iba de Alabama a Colombia cargado de mercancías. En la historia contada por Luis Alejandro, narra como ´por un descuido y al haberse soltado una carga del barco, cayó al mar y no fue visto por el resto de la tripulación. Luis pasó 10 días a la deriva a merced del sol, el mar y las criaturas marinas, donde lo único que lo acompañaba era las esperanzas de ser rescatado y un ave marina que lo visitaba. En altamar Luis vivió las más horripilantes sensaciones y temores, pudiendo entender lo puntuales que pueden llegar a ser ciertas especies como un tiburón que todas las tarde a la misma hora lo bordeaba y lo visitaba tal vez en la espera de su muerte. Con el pasar de los días, la deshidratación lo hacía sentirse más agobiado y sentía que el tiempo transcurrido se hacía más y más largo. En su diatriba de supervivencia se lanzó sobre su ave compañera y como un animal salvaje la despedazó con sus dientes y ese era el alimento que hasta tan vez cinco días transcurridos pudo lograr tener algo con que alimentarse. A los diez días fue que llego a tierra firme a una población desconocida dándose cuenta que su tragedia aun al haber sido encontrado y al estar en tierra, no había terminado. El relato de este náufrago cautivo al joven periodista Gabriel García que debido a la veracidad de la historia se ganó tener que ser un exiliado. De este libro describiré tres partes muy importantes: 1. Cuál es el motivo de Gabriel García de escribir esta historia. 2. Ritmo de la historia. 3. Qué era lo que había detrás de los sucesos y por qué fue exiliado el autor. Este libro marca un punto de partida en la historia de este escritor a nivel personal y de su carrera como escritor, consiguiendo así escribir uno de sus mejores títulos que lo consagraron como un excelente autor de grandes historias.

El diario “El Espectador” le otorga la oportunidad al joven periodista “Gabriel García Márquez” relatar la historia de quien fuera proclamado héroe nacional por haber sobrevivido diez días en altamar al haber naufragado del “ARC caldas”, barco de la armada colombiana, que al estar en reparaciones en Alabama fue cargado de mercancía de contrabando, soltándose esta carga a mitad de camino, golpeando a “Luis Alejandro Velasco” haciéndolo caer por la borda. A raíz de este suceso se escribe este reportaje de la propia mano de su protagonista. Al principio Luis Alejandro es amado y condecorado por el gobierno y armada colombiana pero debido a este reportaje es olvidado casi que de inmediato por las fuertes declaraciones ahí expuestas.
2. The rhythm of the story
The story is told coldly and keeping details; the author of this book, exposes what the castaway experiences from a very intimate perspective of the protagonist, maintaining a harmonious line with what Luis Alejandro is telling him about what he suffered. The rhythm of history is not lost at any time, at times reaching the overwhelm and anguish that Luis felt in those days of shipwreck. Each of the parts leads us into a feeling of thirst, hunger and desire to continue accompanying in his loneliness, who at the time was considered a national hero for surviving.
La historia es relatada fríamente y manteniendo detalles; el autor de este libro, expone lo que vive el náufrago desde una perspectiva muy íntima del protagonista, manteniendo una línea armónica con lo que Luis Alejandro le va contando por lo sufrido. No se pierde en ningún momento el ritmo de la historia llegando por momentos a sentirse el agobio y la angustia que sentía Luis en esos días de naufragio. Cada una de las partes nos lleva a adentrarnos en una sensación de sed, hambre y ganas de seguir acompañando en su soledad, a quien en su momento fue considerado héroe nacional por lograr sobrevivir.
3. What was behind the events and why the author was exiled?.
The ship belonging to the Colombian navy was kept on land for a time not established in an Alabama port, being loaded with merchandise that was not allowed in this type of vessel. This contraband merchandise was exposed by Luis Velazco, being totally denied by the Colombian government and the armed forces. Due to the report made for the newspaper "El Espectador" which does not hide this reality, the media is censored and therefore the author of the report, who at that time was a young journalist "Gabriel García Márquez", this reason made the shipwrecked has been vetoed and questioned for the statements that exposed the Colombian army, this is the reason why he is exiled in Paris. The option to erase these statements to hide that truth was not taken by Gabriel and he decides to leave his native Colombia.
El barco perteneciente a la armada colombiana se mantuvo en tierra por un tiempo no establecido en un puerto de Alabama, siendo este cargado de mercancías que no estaban permitidas en ese tipo de navíos. Esta mercancía de contrabando fue expuesta por Luis Velazco siendo esta negada totalmente por el gobierno colombiano y por la fuerza armada. Debido al reportaje realizado para el diario “El Espectador” el cual no esconde esta realidad, es censurado el medio de comunicación y por ende al autor del reportaje que para ese entonces era un joven periodista “Gabriel García Márquez” esta razón hizo que al naufragado haya sido vetado y cuestionado por las declaraciones que exponían a la armada colombiana, esta es la razón por el cual es exiliado en parís. La opción de borrar esas declaraciones para esconder esa verdad no fue tomada por Gabriel y decide irse de su natal Colombia.

Es conocido mayormente por su novela “cien años de soledad”.
