Trama - Plot
Evie es una mujer de 26 años que padece convulsiones diagnosticadas hace 10 años. Su vida cambió cuando llegó a su vida un perro de servicio para discapacidades llamado Charlie; este le dio a Evie la independencia que necesitaba y pudo irse a vivir sola. Además de que formaron un lazo como ningún otro. Para retribuir lo que recibió, Evie empieza a trabajar como voluntaria en esta pequeña empresa que se dedica a entrenar perros y emparejarlos con posibles dueños que los necesiten. Hasta que se convierte en su pasión y su trabajo de verdad, aunque recibe un salario mínimo se las arregla para sustentarse.
Evie is a 26-year-old woman who has had seizures diagnosed 10 years ago. Her life changed when a service dog named Charlie came into her life; he gave Evie the independence she needed and she was able to move out on her own. They formed a bond like no other. To give back, Evie began volunteering with this small business that trains dogs and matches them with prospective owners in need. Until it becomes her passion and her real job, even though she receives minimal pay she manages to support herself.
Un día recibe un e-mail de un padre que dice que su hija de 10 años fue diagnosticada con epilepsia y le gustaría concertar una reunión con ella para informarse mejor sobre los perros de servicio. A Evie esto le toca muy de cerca porque sabe lo qué es vivir así y quiere ayudar a la pequeña a mejorar su calidad de vida. Arreglan la cita para el día siguiente en una cafetería.
One day she receives an e-mail from a father who says his 10-year-old daughter has been diagnosed with epilepsy and he would like to set up a meeting with her to learn more about service dogs. Evie is very touched by this because she knows what it's like to live like this and wants to help the little girl improve her quality of life. They make an appointment for the next day at a coffee shop.
El día de la cita Evie visualiza al padre y su hija tomando algo y se acerca con Charlie pegado a ella como su fiel compañero. Pero algo no anda bien, resulta que Jacob, alias Jake, no parece estar entendiendo lo que está pasando. Allí se dan cuenta que todo fue un plan de su hija de 10 años que lo hizo a espaldas de su padre porque realmente quiere mucho tener uno de estos perros y Jake no está de acuerdo. Este se comporta de una manera muy grosera con Evie y luego se marcha.
On the day of the date Evie visualizes the father and daughter having a drink and approaches with Charlie clinging to her as her faithful companion. But something isn't right, it turns out that Jacob, aka Jake, doesn't seem to be understanding what's going on. There they realize that it was all a plan of his 10 year old daughter who did it behind her father's back because she really wants one of these dogs very badly and Jake doesn't agree. This one behaves in a very rude way with Evie and then leaves.
Pero a los días la vuelve a contactar porque está decidido a hacer la vida de su hija Sam lo más feliz y llevadera posible. Allí empiezan las reuniones para ver cuál de estos perros puede matchear con Sam. Una cosa lleva a la otra y de repente empieza una amistad entre ellos; además Sam adora a Evie, a falta de una figura materna se volvió su confidente. Jake no puede dejar pasar lo feliz que parece su hija después de un año terrible y hasta él mismo se empieza a sentir más ligero.
But within days he contacts her again because he is determined to make his daughter Sam's life as happy and bearable as possible. So the meetings begin to see which of these dogs can match with Sam. One thing leads to another and suddenly a friendship begins between them; besides Sam adores Evie, in the absence of a mother figure she became his confidant. Jake can't get over how happy his daughter seems after a terrible year and even he himself begins to feel lighter.
Evie podría ser mucho más que una amiga, pero aún hay heridas que tiene que sanar y no quiere arriesgarse a lastimar su corazón o el de su hija. Sin embargo, la atracción entre ambos es evidente; pronto se darán cuenta que están traspasando la línea que ellos mismo marcaron. Pero, ¿será posible que su relación tenga futuro?

Evie could be much more than a friend, but there are still wounds she has to heal and she doesn't want to risk hurting her heart or that of her daughter. However, the attraction between the two is evident; they will soon realize that they are crossing the line they drew themselves. But can their relationship have a future?

Mi opinión - My opinion
Que linda historia, súper reconfortante, divertida, emotiva. Hacía mucho que no me enganchaba tanto a un libro de esta manera, de esas en las que no podes dejar de leer y todo el tiempo que no lo haces estás pensando en él.
¡Además tiene perritos! Jajaja mi punto débil, adoré totalmente a Charlie y a Daysi, la perrita de Sam. Esta es una niña increíble también. Amé a Jake y la relación que tiene con su hija, esas cosas hacen que me replantee la vida.
Me encanta que también aprendí cosas sobre epilepsia y lo qué hay que hacer cuando una persona la está padeciendo. Es muy interesante aprender estas cosas en los libros.
What a beautiful story, super comforting, funny, emotional. It's been a long time since I've been so hooked on a book like this, one of those where you can't stop reading and the whole time you're thinking about it.
Plus it has puppies! Hahaha my soft spot, I totally adored Charlie and Daysi, Sam's little dog. This is an amazing little girl too. I loved Jake and the relationship he has with his daughter, those things make me rethink life.
I love that I also learned things about epilepsy and what to do when a person is suffering from it. It is very interesting to learn these things in books.
Pero no todo puede ser color de rosas, hay personajes que se hacen odiar mucho, como los padres de Evie, que son desagradables; el hombre con el que quieren que se case Evie; y la madre de Sam. Hay momentos donde me daban ganas de traspasar el libro y darles sus merecidos.
Sacando esos momentos frustrantes, es una lectura muy recomendable. De verdad es lo más dulce que leí este año. La historia de amor entre los protagonistas es muy hermosa. Si le gustan este tipo de historias, los invito a leer esta que seguro les encantara.

But it can't all be roses, there are characters who make you really hate them, like Evie's parents, who are nasty; the man they want Evie to marry; and Sam's mother. There are moments where I felt like tearing through the book and giving them their due.
Those frustrating moments out of the way, it's a highly recommended read. It really is the sweetest thing I read this year. The love story between the main characters is beautiful. If you like this kind of stories, I invite you to read this one that you will surely love.
