Hi! What an insightful review. I haven't actually read this book (and I didn't even know it was part of a trilogy), but I was really intrigued by what you said about how it handles different geographical perspectives.
What you say about horror is so true: sometimes horror based on reality is much harder to digest than any fictional monster or ghost story, precisely because you know that human beings were capable of such things. I'm a little intimidated by how dense and graphic it is, but I suppose it's necessary to keep the story fresh in our minds. Thanks for the recommendation.
