Esto sonará muy ridículo, pero siempre he tenido la loca idea de que mi mejor amigo de la adolescencia fue un libro. O el conjunto de personajes dentro de él -o lo que fuera que les diera vida dentro de mi cabeza-.
Con un libro no puedes interactuar vivamente, pero sin embargo te enseña tantas cosas... Que, incluso, aunque fueran paginas, se vuelve más interesante que hablar con alguien real.
Mi entrada a este concurso suena un poco rara, pareciera que estuviera despreciando la compañía de personas amables, que seguro tienen muchas cosas buenas que contarme, como exactamente lo hace un escritor al escribir un libro.
Pero por alguna razón, cuando leo, conecto de un modo en el que todas las cosas al rededor mio desaparecen. Lo bueno, y lo malo, todo deja de existir. Solo tengo en mente la historia frente a mis ojos.
Estoy dentro... Y se siente como si viviera todas las aventuras del mundo desde este rinconsito del mundo en el que habito.

This is going to sound so ridiculous, but I've always had this crazy idea that my best friend growing up was a book. Or the set of characters inside it -or whatever it was that gave them life inside my head-.
With a book you can't interact vividly, but yet it teaches you so much.... That, even if it was just pages, it becomes more interesting than talking to someone real.
My entry to this contest sounds a bit strange, it seems like I'm despising the company of nice people, who surely have many good things to tell me, just like a writer does when writing a book.
But for some reason, when I read, I connect in a way that all the things around me disappear. The good, and the bad, everything ceases to exist. I only have in mind the story in front of my eyes.
I'm inside... And it feels like I'm living all the adventures of the world from this little corner of the world I inhabit.

What is your favorite time or place to read? || ¿Cuál es su momento o lugar favorito para leer?
En las mañanas temprano, y de noche, luego de terminar mis quehaceres por completo. Pero sobre todo de noche... Aunque esta respuesta tiene excepciones.
¿Por qué?
En las mañanas me gusta cuando no tengo nada en mente, para nutrir la cabeza de algo que me gusta. Es como si le preparara el desayuno favorito a mi cerebro.
Sin embargo, a veces esto puede ser tomado como irresponsable de mi parte, y parecer perezoso, ya que estoy postergando mis tareas diarias. A esto viene que prefiera en algunos casos la noche, ya que me libera de ocupaciones, o molestias, y me brinda la tranquilidad que necesito para leer.
No obstante, todo tiene su excepción. Cuando un libro me gusta mucho, o se encuentra en sus capítulos más interesantes, puede leer en cualquier momento, o incluso durante todo el día.
Y hablando de lugares, en realidad cualquier lugar donde nadie me intente sacar conversación a sabiendas de que estoy leyendo, estaría bastante bien. Y claro, donde no haya mucha contaminación acústica.
In the early mornings, and at night, after finishing my chores completely. But mostly at night... Although this answer has exceptions.
Why?
In the mornings I like when I have nothing on my mind, to nourish my head with something I like. It's like making my brain a favorite breakfast.
However, sometimes this can be taken as irresponsible on my part, and look lazy, as I am procrastinating my daily tasks. This is why I sometimes prefer the evening, as it frees me from busyness, or discomfort, and gives me the peace and quiet I need to read.
However, everything has its exception. When I like a book a lot, or it is in its most interesting chapters, I can read at any time, or even during the whole day.
And speaking of places, really any place where no one will try to draw me out in conversation knowing that I'm reading, would be quite nice. And of course, where there's not too much noise pollution.
What makes you enjoy a book? || ¿Qué le hace disfrutar de un libro?
Conocer historias, personajes, e incluso lugares, desconocidos para mi. Sentir, aunque sea irreal, todo lo que se vive dentro del libro... Que logre cautivarme, hasta el extremo de que no me deje pensar en otra cosa. Sin duda alguna soy una persona bastante sensible cuando de terminar un libro se trata, siento como si me estuviera desprendiendo de una parte de mi... Después de todo, no por nada el escritor argentino Tomás Eloy Martínez dijo alguna vez:
“Somos, así, los libros que hemos leído. O somos, de lo contrario, el vacío que la ausencia de libros ha abierto en nuestras vidas.”
Lo que me hace disfrutar de un libro, es que me haga sentir viva.
To know stories, characters, and even places, unknown to me. To feel, even if it is unreal, everything that is lived in the book... That it manages to captivate me, to the point of not letting me think about anything else. Al aire libre, si, pero no cuando comienzo un libro, porque encuentro muchas distracciones. Y antes de dormir, como dije anteriormente en la primera pregunta, también me gusta porque es un momento en el que me encuentro despojada de toda tarea u oficio.
En el bus es difícil, pero sin embargo es algo que hice por mucho tiempo cuando estudiaba en una ciudad ajena a donde vivo. Un libro que recuerdo de aquellos tiempos es El Principe de Maquiavelo.
Outdoors, yes, but not when I start a book, because I find many distractions. And before going to sleep, as I said earlier in the first question, I also like it because it is a time when I find myself stripped of any task or office.

Do you focus on character development, thoughtful messages, or the level of intrigue a plot generates in you? || ¿Se centra en el desarrollo de los personajes, en los mensajes reflexivos o en el nivel de intriga que le genera una trama?
Soy muy fan de los protagonistas, o los personajes que marcan la diferencia. Creo que hay muchos estereotipos que usualmente se usan en las historias, y conocemos ya casi de memoria. Sin embargo, que un escritor tome un estereotipo y lo haga suyo, convirtiéndolo en un personaje icono, para mi tiene gran valor.
Ademas me gusta ver desarrollo y evolución en los mismos. Que al igual que las personas reales, atraviesen situaciones que los hagan cambiar. Nada en este mundo se compone de solo cosas buenas, y menos las personas.
En un libro también presto mucha atención a sus mensajes, las frases que lo aportan de un valor reflexivo. De hecho he llegado a muchos libros por alguna frase que llamo poderosamente mi atención. Sin duda alguna, este es un aspecto que disfruto mucho de una novela. Por lo contrario, el nivel de intriga que contenga un libro, no es de vital importancia para mi.
I'm a big fan of protagonists, or characters that make a difference. I think there are a lot of stereotypes that are usually used in stories, and we know them by heart. However, for a writer to take a stereotype and make it his own, turning it into an iconic character, has great value for me.
I also like to see development and evolution in them. Like real people, they go through situations that make them change. Nothing in this world is made up of only good things, least of all people.
In a book I also pay a lot of attention to its messages, the sentences that give it a reflective value. In fact, I have come to many books because of a sentence that caught my attention. Without a doubt, this is an aspect of a novel that I enjoy very much. Conversely, the level of intrigue a book contains, is not of vital importance to me.

qué publicación más bonita! Concuerdo con los que dices al inicio, a veces los libros son la mejor compañía que puede existir. En mi adolescencia una de mis "amigas" favoritas fue Katniss. Cuánto aprendí sobre valentía, coraje y fuerza con ella!

Leer en la mañana es como complicado, a menos que tengamos personas encargadas de atendernos, solo así yo me quedaría en la cama todo el día continuando con la lectura de un libro que atrape totalmente mi atención.
