Conocí a este autor cuando hicieron una referencia hacia sus libros en una animación japonesa, por aquel entonces me gustaba mucho el género de terror, por lo que me llamó la atención y empecé a buscar sus libros. En particular, hubo uno que me atrajo sobremanera, llamado «Dejad a los niños», que es el libro que traigo a continuación.
I met this author when they made a reference to his books in a Japanese animation, at that time I really liked the horror genre, so it caught my attention and I started looking for his books. In particular, there was one that attracted me greatly, called "Let the children", which is the book I bring below.

De qué trata - What it is about
Este libro gira en torno a la familia Conger, específicamente a sucesos extraños (y aterradores) que están ocurriendo en la costa Conger. Los niños están desapareciendo, y aunque las autoridades intentan dar con ellos, no hay rastro de ninguno, como si se los hubiese tragado la tierra.
This book revolves around the Conger family, specifically strange (and frightening) events that are occurring on the Conger coast. The children are disappearing, and although the authorities are trying to find them, there is no trace of any of them, as if they have been swallowed up by the earth.
Las sospechas apuntan hacía las propiedades Conger, y sobre todo, hacia estas personas. Todavía hay rumores de lo que ocurrió con Jack Conger y su hija Sarah, que después de un día juntos en el bosque, la pequeña llegó malherida y afectada psicológicamente, por lo que se quedó sin habla y con un problema de retraimiento que afecta a la familia en todo el libro.

Cabe destacar que esta obra comienza narrando el suceso de algo que pasó en esas propiedades hace 100 años atrás, y es que John Conger violó y asesinó a su hija para luego terminar suicidándose. ¿Tendrá esto algo que ver con lo que está sucediendo en la actualidad?

Mi opinión - My opinion
Este libro tiene sus virtudes y sus defectos, como todo, o por lo menos para mí. Quizá esperé tanto para leerlo, que me hice demasiadas expectativas o por lo menos unas completamente diferentes.
This book has its virtues and its flaws, like everything else, or at least for me. Maybe I waited so long to read it, that I made too many expectations or at least completely different ones.
La historia se desarrolla lentamente, a pesar de ser corta, algo que me desagradó un poco y que no sé cómo explicar del todo es que narraban a cada momento que tal personaje está en el gabinete, luego sube al cuarto, luego está en el gabinete, luego sube al cuarto, lo que lo ví algo innecesario.
The story develops slowly, despite being short, something that I disliked a little and that I don't know how to explain at all is that they narrate at every moment that such a character is in the cabinet, then goes up to the room, then is in the cabinet, then goes up to the room, which I saw as something unnecessary.
Los diálogos son sencillos, igual que la forma de narrar. Algo que sí me agradó mucho es que viví frustrada en cierto modo, porque las cosas no salían como esperaba y eso me desesperaba un poco, pero es una experiencia agradable, que aunque uno tienda a querer ir hacia el "lado bueno", es decir, que todo se revuelva, se aclare, se justifique, el autor te lleve de la mano por el mundo que él planificó, sin quebrar su voluntad por buscar la manera de agradar más.
The dialogues are simple, as well as the way of narrating. Something that I did like a lot is that I lived frustrated in a way, because things did not go as I expected and that made me despair a little, but it is a pleasant experience, that although one tends to want to go to the "good side", that is, that everything is scrambled, clarified, justified, the author takes you by the hand through the world he planned, without breaking his will to find a way to please more.
Este libro tiene escenas y elementos muy aterradores, aunque no está exclusivamente basado en esto para asustar al lector y que digan ¡Este es un libro de terror! Eso lo clama a gritos sin necesidad de narrar a cada instante y en cada página escenas turbulentas. Aparte del miedo también encontramos una vida en cada personaje, sobre todo en la familia Conger, y sus propios problemas cotidianos, lo que lo hace ser más realista.
This book has very frightening scenes and elements, although it is not exclusively based on this to scare the reader into saying "This is a horror book! It cries out that without the need to narrate turbulent scenes at every moment and on every page. Apart from the fear we also find a life in each character, especially in the Conger family, and their own daily problems, which makes it more realistic.
Hubo algo que no me hizo sentir convencida, y estaba entre uno y otro lado de la balanza en todo el libro, hasta que llegué a la parte final y con solo una frase, (que involucra el título) todas esas dudas se disiparon y esta obra ganó muchos puntos de un solo golpe.
There was something that did not make me feel convinced, and I was between one and the other side of the scale throughout the book, until I got to the final part and with just one sentence, (involving the title) all those doubts were dissipated and this work gained many points in one fell swoop.
Ese final, esa frase en específico, fue lo que más me gustó. Sin duda es una historia muy particular, no estaría de más leer y entretenerse un buen rato con este libro de terror que hace erizar la piel. ¡Nos vemos en otra reseña!
That ending, that specific sentence, was what I liked the most. Without a doubt it is a very particular story, it wouldn't hurt to read and be entertained for a while with this horror book that makes your skin crawl. See you in another review!
