At the moment of posting this post, the writing contest has just reached it's soft deadline. With this post, I'm opening the review contest. As a reviewer, you help determine who wins the 75,000 or 100,000 #creativecoin CCC delegation in the writing contest, while having a chance of winning a #creativecoin CCC delegation of at least 70,000 #creativevoin CCC.

The prize

This post is about the review contest, thus the prize section is about the prize for reviewers.
If you didn't compete as a writer in the writing contest, you can now compete in the reading and reviewing contest.

The prize you can win with this contest is a single prize that is (at least) a 70,000 CCC #creativecoin delegation lasting from September 15th until a week prior to the end of the year.

The prize might grow a bit more before the deadline. If there is no late 4th submission before the hard deadline, to upto a 100,000 CCC #creativecoin delegation.

The writing-contest contestants

At the time of writing, the soft deadline has expired for the writing contest and there are at the moment of writing a total of three entries in the writing contest. Please check the writing-contest page for additional entries if you can. As said, the deadline that has just past is the soft deadline. As a contestant in the review contest, you don't have to include entries coming in past the soft deadline, it still would be great if you could.

The reading/review contest structure

In order to compete in this reading and review contest, and in order to have your say in which one of the contestants of the writing contest wins the delegation for that contest, you should do the following:

  1. Read about the writing contest
  2. Read each of the competing short stories.
  3. Write a blog post using the tags #creativecoin and either #bookreview or #fiction (or both) where you write a short review for at least two of the entries, and you give a star rating to each of the contestants entries. One up to five stars. Please consider checking up on late contest entries before posting your blog post.
  4. Put a short declaration in your blog post stating that you aren't a close relation or an alter ego of any of the contestants.
  5. Link to your blog post in a comment on this post.

The deadline for submissions is two weeks from now on the minute. September 15th 2021 AOE

Your entry should be original and honest and no shorter than 600 words. It should apply specificly to the stories being reviewed, no generic stuff that could fit each of the stories and if it's too close to an already posted entries that would disqualify your entry as well (both towards winning the contest, as to co-determining who wins the writing contest).

That's it.

Note that late entries that you didn't give a star rating to will default either one star less than the lowest star rating you have used in your review, or to one star. Whichever is higher.

Some more notes.

All entries that don't disqualify count for the rating of the writing contest. I do however give extra weight to reviews and ratings by Hive Book Club members and HIVE users who have done fiction reviews on the chain before.

If you link to either a review post, or to a post by you in the Hive Book Club community, your ratings will get a 1.7x weighing factor in determining the winner of the writing contest.

The reason for this is that I want to compensate a bit for writing-community effects.

Note this link doesn't affect your own chances in the review contest, just the chances of the writers you rated.

Here is my entry in the review portion of your contest. It was a real challenge because they are all three excellent stories. What a unique contest - I now know that I'd much rather be the writer rather than the reviewer, lol.
Creativecoin's Short Story Review Contest

@samsmith1971 @litguru best of luck :) !!! I will be reading your posts soon :)

@pibara thanks so much for the contest :)

Hello @pibara, I've written a review of the three stories (need to edit a bit) but don't know which community to post in. Is Hive Book Club appropriate, even though the review is of short stories and not books? I've written a couple of reviews there before

and

Please advise. Thanks a lot.

Hi @agmoore, sorry for the late reply. Any community will do or none at all. Hive Book Club will do just fine. Use the tags #creativecoin and #bookreview so it shows up here, or if you prefer #creativecoin and #fiction so it shows up here.

Thanks! I've got it. Great idea to run the contest. Great for the community. Great for the writers.

Hi: I enjoyed reading these stories. It is a pleasure to support the authors. As I mentioned in my previous comment, I've written in the Book Review community previously (here, here, and here.

This is my review for today.

Thanks for giving the authors an opportunity to write.

It was fun writing this story. Thank you and good luck!

It was one of the most interesting synopses to which I have ever written. Loved it and I learnt a lot too! Both @wrestlingdesires and @litguru are incredible writers and their entries blew me away. All the best for the contest. Thank you @pibara for inviting us to explore such an interesting subject matter and challenging us to put our individual creative efforts to the test.

I plan to read your post today - has been a busy time :) Did you participate in the Hive Power Up Day?

!PIZZA and !ALIVE

Nooo, sadly not as I completely lost track of time :-( Today is POB power up day though :-)
Did you take part?

Yes :) But I missed the POB one!

I missed them both after all that!😥 next month!!!

Definitely, you will have a nice stash by then ♥️

You Are Alive and have been rewarded with 0.1 ALIVE tokens from the We Are Alive Tribe, and it's paid for by the earnings on @alive.chat, swing by our daily chat any time you want.

hi @pibara, is there any way, using tags or otherwise, to pull out reviews that may have been written already? It would be great to see if anyone is reading the entries and what they think. Feedback helps to improve our writing. I had a look through the Hive Book Club posts and couldn't find any for any of our entries as yet. Are there any?

I'm looking here and here, but there are no entries yet. I'm waiting for a small power down tomorrow, and plan to see if I can buy me a bit more CCC the hours after that, maybe after that I do a little reminder post . I didn't set the exact prize for the review contest yet, so combining that in the post might be a good idea. Feel free to invite review contest contenders in your own post as long as you ask for an honest review of the posts (please no: help me win this contest).

I am wondering if, as there are only 3 entries in the authorial element of the contest (I think), whether perhaps it would be most fair for all concerned if anyone reviewing the entries, actually reviews all 3. I understand that if there had been a lot of entries that to review all of them would not be feasible, but to review 3 seems manageable given the wonderful delegation prize on offer to reviewers and to authors alike ;-) do you have any view on this? This is just my 2 cents worth especially given nobody has reviewed the short stories as yet so nobody would be at a disadvantage. This way a fair comparison between the 3 can be made :-) It is your contest though after all so I am in no way trying to tell you how to run it ;-) The opportunity to enter and challenge myself was very much appreciated. i am thinking of all 3 of us when I say the above.

The idea is they read and rate all three, but a review of two is enough. Not going to change that mid-contest, but a friendly request might be a good idea.

aah I get it, so they still need to read all three and rate all three. That is fair. I thought that they read and rated 2 and any unread just got a default lower rating. If all 3 now have to be rated, then I think that it good for everyone concerned :-)
