Hola amigos de esta comunidad, un espacio agradable para hablar de los libros y la lectura. Hace un rato me uní a la comunidad ya que me gusta mucho leer y leyendo lo que aquí se publica puedo tener buenas recomendaciones de libros. En fin, este es mi primer post aquí y les quisiera hablar sobre uno de mis libros preferidos, el cual me compré hace unos años en la feria del libro que se hacen anualmente en mi país.
El libro se titula "Manuscritos de Pink Mountain" y su autor es Nelson Simón, que no solo es un autor cubano sino que es de mi propia provincia Pinar del Río. Es poeta, narrador y editor y ha publicado muchos libros para niños y jóvenes.
Hello friends of this community, a nice space to talk about books and reading. A while ago I joined the community because I like to read and reading what is published here I can have good book recommendations. Anyway, this is my first post here and I would like to talk about one of my favorite books, which I bought a few years ago at the book fair that is held annually in my country.
The book is entitled "Manuscritos de Pink Mountain" and its author is Nelson Simón, who is not only a Cuban author but is from my own province Pinar del Río. He is a poet, storyteller and editor and has published many books for children and young people.
El libro empieza contando como Sir Angelo de Melbourne en uno de sus viajes encontró un manuscrito en los sótanos de las ruinas del castillos de Pink Mountain, el cual era una carta de amor de una bruja hacia un príncipe. El libro en si es la traducción de esa carta que hiciera Sir Angelo y de hecho está escrito en letras violetas, ya que según el libro la bruja escribió esas palabras con con su sangre violeta.
El libro está escrito en poemas y desde que lo leí me encantó, ya que para empezar, es algo insólito que una bruja se enamora de un príncipe, pues normalmente son las villanas de la historia y las pintan como seres sin amor en su corazón. En adición, los poemas están escritos tan bellamente que te tocan el corazón en verdad. Mientras vas leyendo le llegas a coger cariño a la bruja y hasta te pones en su posición pues, ¿quién no ha sufrido alguna vez la desdicha de no ser correspondido?
The book begins telling how Sir Angelo of Melbourne in one of his travels found a manuscript in the cellars of the ruins of the castle of Pink Mountain, which was a love letter from a witch to a prince. The book itself is the translation of that letter made by Sir Angelo and in fact it is written in violet letters, since according to the book the witch wrote those words with her violet blood.
The book is written in poems and since I read it I loved it, because to begin with, it is something unusual for a witch to fall in love with a prince, since they are usually the villains of the story and they are painted as beings without love in their heart. In addition, the poems are so beautifully written that they really touch your heart. As you read, you grow fond of the witch and even put yourself in her position, for who has never suffered the misfortune of being unrequited?
Otro aspecto que me gusta de la historia es como insertan los cuentos clásicos de Disney al poner al príncipe como el príncipe de cada historia, ya sea Blancanieves o Cenicienta, y a la bruja como la villana. Al leer te vas dando cuenta de todos los sacrificios que la bruja hace por el príncipe y como este nunca nota su amor.
Es una historia muy creativa y bien escrita con la que todos nos podemos identificar, pues todos hemos sufrido por amor, pero el mensaje va más allá, pues creo que hay una crítica muy clara a la superficialidad de la belleza, además de que el mensaje que quiere transmitir el autor es que el amor es la fuerza más poderosa del universo y que incluso una criatura como una bruja puede llegar a sentirlo.
Another aspect I like about the story is how they insert the classic Disney fairy tales by putting the prince as the prince of each story, be it Snow White or Cinderella, and the witch as the villain. As you read you become aware of all the sacrifices the witch makes for the prince and how he never notices her love.
It is a very creative and well written story with which we can all identify, because we have all suffered for love, but the message goes beyond, because I think there is a very clear criticism of the superficiality of beauty, plus the message that the author wants to convey is that love is the most powerful force in the universe and that even a creature like a witch can get to feel it.
Las ilustraciones son otro elemento que acompañan al libro las cuales me gustan mucho, pues reflejan la personalidad de la bruja extraña y poco convencional así como su amor por el príncipe. Además de que te ayudan a extrapolar más tu mente y adentrarte en la historia.
Para finalizar, es un libro muy bello, con una historia muy bonita escrita en forma de poesía, lo que lo hace más romántico. No sé si el libro ha sido publicado fuera de Cuba, pero si tienen acceso a él se los recomiendo. Saludos.

The illustrations are another element that accompany the book which I like very much, because they reflect the personality of the strange and unconventional witch as well as her love for the prince. They also help you to extrapolate your mind more and get into the story.
To conclude, it is a very beautiful book, with a very nice story written in the form of poetry, which makes it more romantic. I don't know if the book has been published outside Cuba, but if you have access to it I recommend it. Greetings.
