In Hungary Prime Minister Viktor Orban was pushed for an amendment that defines a gender as the “biological sex based on primary sex characteristics and chromosomes.” It has been met with criticism from the trans community who find themselves in a difficult position when it comes to healthcare or other financial matters, forcing those to ‘come out’. Human rights advocates state, “Transgender persons have the right to legal recognition of their gender based on self-determination” and this amendment opposes that view.

Another 'macho' leader trying to divide the world in simple terms when it's not black and white (as it were). Of course this plays well with some of the populace at the expense of making life hard for those who don't fit in. A step backwards

Hungary has been 'on a roll' lately :-/

Gender doesn't even need to be on a passport if it were me.

It's a complex issue, just like race and I guess it will take some more time for all these notions of sexual identity to be more fluid or even inconsequential in the great scheme of things.
I can undertsand the apprehension, the need for order and determinacy, the appeal to old good days' moral values. But the fact of the matter is that we have done a pretty crappy job with the "sanity" that one of the viewers mentioned as victorious in this particular case.
Governments that have preserved strict gender identities and banned or criminalized any sexual deviation have not made our world a bit better.
I can understand the fears and risks of moral anarchy. We are seeing some of that in the so-called feminazi movements worldwide. I guess time will tell

This is scary and a very complicated issue as how do you prevent this from happening from outside the country? Unfortunately, it seems almost impossible...
