For the entire community of Hive I inform you that yesterday was a day of celebration for San Juan, the saint that is celebrated in all Venezuelan coasts. A tradition generated by our African brothers who brought as slaves to the lands of Venezuela, these men and women of free spirit never ceased to coexist with in their cultural DNA, neither them, nor our indigenous, that although they had some difference (by the acceptance of the indigenous within the house of the Spanish as servants, unlike Africans who were treated as slaves without any benefit), they could eventually reach a cultural mix in all aspects of life that we can see in this video and in these photographs.
Para toda la comunidad de Hive les informo que ayer fue día de celebración para el San Juan, el santo que se celebra en todas las costas venezolanas. Una tradición generada por nuestros hermanos africanos que trajeron como esclavos a las tierras de Venezuela, estos hombres y mujeres de espíritu libre nunca dejaron de coexistir con en su ADN cultural, ni ellos, ni nuestros indígenas, que a pesar de que se tenían alguna diferencia (por la aceptación de los indígenas dentro de la casa de los españoles como sirvientes, a diferencias de africanos que eran tratados como esclavos sin ningún beneficio), pudieron con el tiempo llegar a una mezcla cultural en todos los aspectos de la vida que podemos ver en este video y en estas fotografías.
This work has something in particular, is that it was not made in the coasts of Venezuela, this celebration of San Juan was made in my town of Guarenas, a city that is half an hour from the capital. This is due to the Oil Boom that gave life in 1960, where a large population of Venezuela moved to the capital of the country, the Andes, the plains and the coasts, left the planting, livestock, and fishing to seek greater economic benefit, this brought many cultures that began to be seen in the center of the country and its surroundings, as is my town Guarenas, and this beautiful manifestation that today I share with you here in Hive.
Este trabajo tiene algo en particular, es que no fue realizado en las costas de Venezuela, esta celebración de San Juan fue realizada en mi pueblo de Guarenas, una ciudad que está a media hora de la capital. Esto se debe al Boom Petrolero que dio vida en el año 1960, donde una gran población de Venezuela se mudó a la capital del país, Los andes, los llanos y las costas, dejaron la siembra, el ganado, y la pesca para buscar un mayor beneficio económico, esto trajo consigo muchas culturas que empezaron a verse en centro del país y sus alrededores, como lo es mi población Guarenas, y esta hermosa manifestación que hoy comparto con ustedes aquí en Hive.
