The nation is celebrating Amrit Mahotsav to mark India's 75 Years of Independence. A unique achievement of reaching the pinnacle of success after some gloomy and struggling days in begining to one of the major contributor to world economy.
The celebration has already begun in many cities with people organising tri colour March to hoisting Indian flags at every home. It was the government initiative to make the ocassion bigger and let every people enjoy the special ocassion. Flags were selling at many places and Indian citizen were enthusiastically taking part.
However, there are very few people who are aware about the difference of Unfurling and Hoisting of Indian flags. Indians flags were hoisted twice in a year and we celebrate Republic Day and Independence Day. The flags were Unfurled on the ocassion of Republic day while it is Hoisted during Independence Day. But there is little difference among the celebration of these two ocassion.
Republic Day is celebrated on 26 January every year. On this day the Indian flag were unfurled from remain closed and tied on top of the pole. There is a special indication of this flag hositing and is showing the open era of India Independence. On this day, The President of India hoist the Indian flag and address the nation from India Gate (Delhi)
On the other hand , Independence day which is celebrated across the nation on 15 August. The flag is tied to the bottom of the flag pole, and is hoisted to the top. This is to mark the independent nation and end of British Era. On this day Prime Minister of India, hoist the Indian Flag from Red fort (Delhi).
There is very little.differnce between the two celebration, however it has immense importance.
The hoisting of the flag signifies the rise of a new nation, free from colonial domination. Whereas on Republic Day, the flag is already on top of the flag pole and signifies that it is one of a free nation.
Interesting....right ? I know very few people.l are aware about this...so does me as well. Especially our new generation are completelly unaware about such little differences. But good to share good stuffs to make things better.
