How Close Are We To A Hive Explosion?

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

Things are starting to move very quickly.

We have 3Speak introducing its client for its new decentralized video storage system that will tie into IPFS (they are also looking at adding images to it). Then we have Leofinance announce that we are a few week away from the release of its microblogging application. At present, they are putting the Lightning DB live, a step that is vital to microblogging.

In this video I pose a timeline of when I think things will happen and how the impact will be. Watching the numbers apps like Parlor and Telegram pulled in over a short period of time should alert us to the potential that is out there.

Is it really that crazy to think that Hive could attract 50K people? We are not saying 3 million like Telegram got in less than a week. 50K?

The only thing I'm worried about microblogging on Leofinance is the fact that I won't keep up with the amount of content that's gonna be out through this platform.

Regarding DB Lightning I'm actually having some issues with showing my last post and also recent posts on the platform.

You're right, Hive is finally starting to move, to make sense, to decouple from the blogging platform stigma we've had for years and transform itself into an ecosystem, an economy.

The bugs are still being worked out on the DB. I would say they will have it running by early next week the way this development team operates.

LOL an amazing problem to have as a platform, don't you think?

Four years ago I was addicted to facebook and instagram and now to leo and hive. Feels like switching from sugar to honey somehow :)

I always concern about onboarding. I know some forum/browser games owners, that are interested in hive. But there is no easy way to onboard a full platform into hive.

If the first websites integrate hive, because of more easy master login and security, they need help for onboarding.

That should be more mentioned imo, because that's way more efficient than onboarding 1 by 1 ( would also work for facebook communities).

It is a major problem. Leofinance and 3Speak somehow added the ability to sign up using a Twitter or Google account. That is the best approach (not sure how easy that is to implement).

Then, over time, people can learn about the keys and what needs to be done with them. Having people hit with that right off the bat is not something that will endear us to the masses.

It is too complicated and overwhelming.

There will be a solution at some time that works well for many dapps in an easy way. I'm sure about this.

The only question is the timeframe :D

Did Parlour really do 8 million users, loll??? And now their accounts are just all lost overnight?

Wow. Just wow.

That is what I read. Now sure of the accuracy of that number but who knows.

Yeah all that is gone now with AWS wiping out their site.

I am excited at all the changes. I wasn't paying attention to the micro-blogging post (I saw it a few times) but I did see quite a few comments and discussions going on there. Is the micro-blogging for Leofinance going to focused more on the general Leo content or anything?

I think the biggest problem with these new platforms is none of them have the similar experiences. For example I couldn't get use to Library because it has problems when buffering sometimes and it doesn't remember where you left over (compared to YouTube). This means we need to figure what we can do to replicate most of the functionality.

I have a problem with using email-lists because it has proven that existing services are not as reliable. I don't remember where I saw it, but I think they blocked the email lists for Trump along with everything else. Which means unless you got a good reliable service without much external influence, it can be compromised.

I am not sure although I sense that it will have to be open. How can it be moderated? I mean I guess you could delete accounts from the UI but that would end up being the same thing as what is out there.

Plus if the intention is to truly decentralize, which is what LeoInfra and the testnet are all about, then I think the intention is to do the opposite, provide a venue for people to post what they want.

It uses comments, and it is hard to do anything about that.

I always find it fun to play with the numbers and speculate what the future should be like, Hive we know it has the potential and with so many projects being developed and presented so far, I believe that your "explosion" shouldn't take long.

50K is an excellent number, even if for the "traditional" standards of a social network it can mean practically nothing, for us and for Hive it would be a beauty of a mass membership.

It's possible? When it comes to cryptocurrencies, of course it is! Exciting days are coming soon.

It is more than possible. There is a lot of people out there from all walks of life. It will only take a few people getting involved who has some "influence".

From what I can see, this thing will explode very quickly.

We will be here in the crowd that is possible to happen quickly.

I hope not until March :D
I really wanna add on like 100k.
I guess I could always trade 🙄 30k LEO... nah

Okay we will go with your 100K users.

I guess I could always trade 🙄 30k LEO... nah

You are in the minority on that one but I am with you. No reason to unload; time to add.

heh users I want 100k Hive.
I guess users would be better :D

3Speak and Leofinance are excellent entry channels, especially microblogging, which will surely bring new users to HIVE

I add Splinterlands and the gaming sector that can really capture potential millions of users

Gaming is certainly a huge arena that can pull in people.

The thing is that if Leofinance and 3Speak pull in users, that will benefit the gamers. A certain amount of them will end up being interested in that.

It helps all applications.

@taskmaster4450, Innovations and opportunities, both these aspects attracts people and in my opinion both these aspects are actively present on Hive Blockchain. Hive field is lot more greener than many think. Stay blessed.

@taskmaster4450 Since the idea of leaving comments or email people having WordPress or blogger based websites to offer them to back up their stuff on a secure place, I think you could set up a contest to reward people for doing this work.
