Carving on the brink
____________________

Carving different spaces for the fates
pursuing with a fury my demise.
Or at least the more sweet diligent decay
of different faces stored behind my eyes:
long-carried, long-splashed out upon the page,
long-dreamt-of and long-lashed-alive today.

Var'ious are the niches of my nest:
my soulward-twining bramble-beating chest,
my tender, long-offended mortal heart,
all carvèd blood-termitic majesty.
Long-destitute, long-holding to thje dream
long-fantasized, long-fated to arrive.

I'm overcloacked, o'ertaken by the carve
of livid plasma through the waiting sky
to rend in peal of bass the voidful hush
and sear all through my nerves and veins the joy
of loss of lesser — dearth of damning death,
replacèd by long-sought-after sweet health.

Carving on the brink of sanity:
the bliss, the utter stillness of the beast
submergèd in the holy water's touch —
— soothèd by redeeming agony,
of graceful-rippled cause on canceled cause:
long-hinted-at, long-hoped-for clarity.
