We're all Mad Here - The Asylum Grounds - pt,3

in PHOTOGRAPHY [DAC]2 years ago (edited)

This is a small post detailing the outside of one of my explores in the URBEX realm. Someone had posted a few pics from the inside of the main hospital building and I figured I'd finally go to check the place out. The place was built around 1868-70 with around $100,000 from the provincial legislature. Initially, 300 acres of land were purchased and an additional 100 acres were purchased at a later date. There are a multitude of buildings still on the property. Initially called the London Asylum for the Insane, it was then later renamed to the Ontario Hospital for the Mentally Ill and eventually the London Psychiatric Hospital until it was closed down.

Read more about the institution here.

There was also a chapel constructed on the grounds. I guess people were married there. I never got inside. Will have to see if I could one day, it's apparently nice inside. Nice being a relative term.

Hi, I used to have an old road bike :) i got it maybe around 1978. i revived it 2007. change some parts like the tires. used it for a year. sadly, around 2009 I lost it. Stolen :( I never thought such old bike will still be stolen. I used it to get physically fit.

I know how that feels, it's a crappy feeling. Road bikes are great too. Maybe you could find a used one still if you were wanting to 🙂 The only problem about bikes is it's hard or rather annoying to carry photo gear around 😆 Thanks for the comment @digitalis. Keep those pics coming, at least you're getting out there and not just sitting in front of TV all day like a lot of people.

Hey @synrg, sorry to jump in off-topic.
Do you mind reviewing and supporting the Hive Authentication Services proposal? That would be much appreciated.
Your feedback about the project is welcome too.
Thank you.

Very beautiful place and love the atmosphere there ❤️
Sooo perfect angle and love the contrast and colors also! You're very talented photographer. GOd bless you dear @synrg

Thanks so much @ykdesign 😊 I'm thinking that to be an even better photographer, one can share the work with others which is what I'm working on, as well as taking more pics to boot. And of course working on techniques, learning etc! Which is where you come in 😉 Regards. 💖

most welcome dear friend.
