Market Friday by the port
A post for Market Friday hosted by @dswigle, if you haven't followed her yet you should she is one of the kindest and most supportive people here on Hive, a comment from her is like a ray of sunshine on your page.
This is the one tag and daily challenge that I always make a point of joining, and also look through the posts of others that join the challenge and seeing markets from all around the world.
For this weeks post, I am at what I guess could be very Loosely I will admit a fishing Market, down by the piers and docks where many fishing boats are birthed and head out each day to go fishing and bring them back and send them to the fishing market
This fishing boat is called fearless, perhaps a very apt name for the crews that work on the boat, from what I understand working on a commercial fishing boat is very hard and sometimes dangerous work

I am not sure what this ship is called but its clearly been working for a long time with some rusty wear and tear

Now Beth Anne was tied up next to the fearless boat and had similar colors so perhaps owned by the same people

And a bit of fun to finish off the post, this mooring post tie off the ropes thingy, ( Are they called bollards? ) had a bit of style and a nice paint job unlike most of them on the docks

There are so many things to see in a harbour and I like rusty things somehow - in my eyes it mostly adds character to the things :)
That "crab" in the last photo looks cool 😁

I wished I would see these small things more often than I do, bu tmost times I see only the bigger scenes and forget about the details 😎 Later when I look at the images on the computer monitor I often notice little beautiful details.

BEER.Fishing vessels are charming in the rough ready look from wear and tear. Rusted Fairleads gear made a superb photograph enhanced russet looks great.
Most definitely the bollard brightly painted and decorated looks fantastic in detail with a touch of humour. Older brother would possibly have referred to that as Cleats possibly Bitts... I'm not the sailor 😄, but yup, all tie down the vessel...

You guessed it! Bollards are to secure the mooring of vessels! You have become quite seaworthy!
I love a touch of the rust and sometimes, even a little more than that. It is so interesting living in a fishing port, especially a major one like New Bedford. I have often been surprised how quaint the town has stayed despite how large the industry is there. ( I guess different industries provide different growth opportunities) The Virginia Shore, the Chesapeake in particular has watermen that have spent their entire life working the water. Long Island too, although, not like it was a few years back. I love that you are really investing your time in their stories. I find them interesting and a dying breed. So many of them are generational fishermen, it is an occupation their family chooses sometimes out of living the life (all of their life) or economics, that is what the area supports.
I love the shots, the presentation, and the fact that you put is together so well. I want to thank you so much for bringing it to #MarketFriday! You too are Fearless! A wonderfully put-together #MarketFriday. I appreciate how much effort you put into making #MarketFriday a success! I think many that have lived here fir generations are so proud of the fishing history here
And have read stories of multi generational fishing families it is in their blood but also read that is fading with the new generation sadly many don’t want to work on the boats anymore they want to manage them from an office

Great old warrior fishing boats. Gritty, well worn, and awesome to shoot.

Most of our family is in the Caoe this week they go there each year we normally go for a couple of days but most likely won’t this year
we spend a ton of time on Cape Cod, in fact, my craft fairs are each weekend on Cape, selling my photography!
Hopefully this fall, we're selling our Boston area home and moving permanently to lower Cape (the forearm/upper part on map!)
