Setting standards? Keep me out of it.

I totally understand when someone has set some kind of standards for themselves but what I don't understand is why you feel it is okay to rope people into your nonsense.

We people, especially Nigerians, have a way of doing things. It's obvious. So glaring. We all agree on one thing; that society has gone ahead to decide what is right or wrong.

I was having a conversation with someone about Faith and they legit popped up to talk about jewelry and how too much of it was a 'sin'.

And it's sad that they're are so many churches now that have set such useless standards to people who ignorantly follow on without checking to at least know what God has to say about it.

May I remind you that Paul asked the church to not be carried away by every doctrine but to confirm for themselves by 'studying' the Word?

But we don't do that. What we like to do is idolize human beings who don't even feed their spirit enough, then come out to tell us what is 'right' and 'wrong'.

I'm not even down to the gritty yet. We have pastors preaching that using this or that is a sin. We'd go to hell fire if we do this or that and my thoughts are, who do you think God is? Because from your really narrow mind, you make him sound like a really terrible slave master. No wonder some people find it hard to 'do' Christianity.

God isn't man

First of all, being Christian is not supposed to be a bondage. Why do you think you can just up and tell me what God likes and doesn't like? What is the Bible there for?

If Jewelry was a sin, God would never have asked His own, the Israelites, to go to the Egyptians and ask them for theirs (Exodus. 3:22). God doesn't contradict himself. Same yesterday, today and forever, remember?

Oh we want to talk about hair coloring? Okay. The great ministers whom God used mightily, some didn't have their natural hair color on. Famous wife of Paul Crouch, Jan Crouch...

This woman's hair was something else but guess what? God touched people through her.

I think this generation needs to understand that their pastors are not God. Read your Bible. It says,

"Study... to approve yourself…"

We all know knowledge is power but what power do you have when you take all you hear at face value? Why let a human being who hasn't even known God enough, dictate your life?

You think God cares about your hair?

God is Love. Do you even understand what Love means? Have you searched your Bible? No. You only know what the 'pastors' tell you. Have you taken your time to really study, to understand who that being, who is invisible is? No! We all listen to our pastors!

I'm not saying you shouldn't listen to your pastors or anything but remember,
'to every man…in different measures.'

This simply means that your pastor may be preaching from his own insight about God, from his own encounters but you? Who is God to you?

God reveals himself in so many ways and uses the 'foolish things of the world' for his glory. Don't underestimate his power. You don't want to do that.

I don't believe in that BS of dreadlocks being a bad hairstyle. Who are you to preach? Are you God? Did you see Jan's hair? Woman looked like a doll but did that decide if God could use her or not? No. It didn't. So why y'all always trying to make these things so difficult? Your outward appearance doesn't mean one bit to God but your soul and heart is what he values.

We grow up teaching our children this and making them believe that you can't do this or that because you'll go to hell. Ugh! Why?

Before anything else, God is compassionately merciful

I spent most of my childhood/teen years, running from God because I had the mindset that He was angry with me. The things I'd listened to in church did not fuel my faith. No, it tore it down and destroyed it. The only time I felt 'holy' was when I was in so much pain.

But in my twenties, thank God I found a Bible believing Church but most of all, Thank God we were encouraged to read our Bible. I got to understand many things. God revealed himself in different ways explaining to me that before his power, he shows his mercy.

God is so compassionate. Do you know? Do you know that he already knows what would take you from him and would warn you in advance? Some say it's a still small voice. Others call it conscience. Be it whatever, God isn't a discriminator.

Now before you go ahead and begin to raise controversial topics to support this notion, remember, wrong is still wrong. If something isn't accepted in the Bible, it's not accepted by God because that's his word, Inspired by the Holy Spirit.

So my dearies, don't just listen. Do your research. You don't want to get to heaven and see that your bare face and wearing of lambo skirt and dresses was all for nothing. Worse, you see someone waltzing in through the gate with what you call unholy. Get to know who God is yourself not what pastors tell you.
