Here are my thoughts on the said question.
Brother Eli made us to understand that we are not made to believe that we are God’s children, that is, it is not something we are told and then we believe, there are processes we go to to enable us to be Children of God and the Bible has made it clear in Matthew 5:44-45 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,(A) 45 that you may be children(B) of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

In order for us to be worthy of been called children of God, we have to learn the virtues that our Lord Jesus Christ has said in the above verse. We have to be selfless and not selfish even to our enemies, as the Bible as instructed us to do in Luke 6:35 But love your enemies, do good to them,(A) and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children(B) of the Most High,(C) because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.
Yes, we have to always acknowledge the power of God, but that doesn’t mean we are trying to convince/ believe ourselves to be children of God, neither does change the fact that even if we don't acknowledge God’s power, It would still prevail.
In conclusion, we have to go through the process stated by God, in order to be called His Children. Thanks for reading through.
