Job's wife told him to deny God and die and that's the strategy that the devil uses. He wants to instil fear in us so we can forget God. He will want to afflict us so that we can fear and the moment we allow fear to set in, we would start distancing ourselves from God. That's what the devil wants.
Jesus already told us that in this world we would have tribulations but we should be of good cheer because He has overcome the world.
John 15:19 (NIV)
If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.
We are not of the world and because we are not of the world we don't have to behave like the world. When we agree to conform to the things of the world then it shows we are of the world. The Bible already told us we live in the world but we are not of the world so we shouldn't adopt the mindset of the world.
The world hates you because you are not of the world. The world would love you if you are of the world.
The thinking and the thoughts of the world are enemies to the spirit. The flesh can't work with the spirit so when you give yourself to the flesh you won't function well in the spirit.
If you trust in the doctrines of God, you will feel grieved and then hold on to the teachings of Christ. If we allow the devil the enemy would come in.
Lamentations 3:33 (NIV)
For he does not willingly bring affliction or grief to anyone.
God is the one who heals when we have been afflicted. The fear of God prolongs our days as written in Proverbs 10:27. Does that mean those who die young didn't fear God? Of course not. We are to change our perspective and know that regardless of how short people live on earth, if we add eternity with God to it, then they have prolonged days as described in the Bible. It is not the days on earth that we are counting but eternity.
If you have the fear of God, you have a good foundation for the time to come in eternity.
God already say He won't forsake us. There are benefits to obeying God. God does not willingly afflict so when trials come we should accept them. Nothing is evil for us because God wants us to use it to become good.
