Misery and unhappiness are aspects that all people in this world encounter at some point in their lives. Regardless of our identity, whether we are wealthy or not, elderly or young, there is a point when the life becomes challenging and painful. At times, it could be due to illness, shortage of funds or loss of someone dear or issues that have left heavy loads on us. I have also learnt that there is no human being that is not subjected to the hardship, but the question is where we give in, and where we, as humans run to seek assistance.
Based on my knowledge as taught by MCGI (Members Church of God International), there is a divine remedy to any kind of suffering and problems. In Psalm 46:1, the Bible says that God is our refuge and strength, our very present help in trouble. This demonstrates that God does not abandon his children. In cases where all things appear dark and bleak, He is the one who comforts and solves us. People most often seek answers in the most inappropriate places: some of them run to men, others to the money, some even lose their hopes. But the real fact is that true peace and delivery out of suffering can only be provided by God.
Among the initial lessons, I learnt that bad things cannot always be seen as punishments, in some cases it can be a lesson and a trial that makes us something bigger. In Romans 8:28, the bible indicates that, we know that all things work together, to them that love God. This implies that despite failure by things, there is a divine reason as to why things failed. As an illustration, there is the story of Job in the bible where God does not need to challenge us to ruin us but rather gives it to test our faith and make it known that God has power in our lives.
The other lesson that I have learnt is the strength of prayer and faith in God. We need to get down on our knees and pray to God when we are faced with problems rather than complaining and losing faith. It was stated in Philippians 4: 6-7 that care should be observant of nothing; but by all means with thanksgiving to everyone through prayer and supplication, your requests should be made known to God. In my own life I have been able to observe, that in case I genuinely pray and trust God there is peace that starts to run in my heart even before the problem is resolved. The fact that peace is evidence that God is at work in the background.
Adherence to the word of God is also a major solution. The MCGI teachings also stress that we have to live a righteous life and walk in the will of God. Disobedience and sin normally cause us to suffer when we should not but when we obey the commandments of God we get the reward of His favor and direction. Written in the Bible, Matthew 6:33, says, seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
To sum it up human life is full of hardships and sufferings but God has given a means of getting out of it through faith and prayer and obedience and perseverance. We need to get nearer to Him because He is the only person who can come up with the perfect solution instead of giving up. You know we have but as our light affliction 2 Corinthians 4:17 remembers us a far greater and eternal weight of glory. Indeed, there is no end to everything God does, and no point to everything God suffers.
