Underwater Jamaica

in ReggaeJAHM4 years ago

I spent a lot of years living and working as a scuba instructor in Jamaica and for me it is my home. We've been in the Philippines 6 years now but Jamaica is still home. My wife is Jamaican and we see many similarities between Cebu (where we are in the Philippines) and Jamaica.
The reef in Jamaica is suffering quite a lot but there are still alot of things to see in the ocean there. As diverse as th diving is in the philippines i saw many more Rays and sharks ( nurse sharks primarily) than i do here. Here's a little glimpse of the underwater world of Jamaica

OMG this is beautiful

Thanks @nivekpro , I really wish they would put more into protecting the reefs there and maybe some restoration projects. If we move back this is something I'd like to do with my old boss and friend Chris Rance

Hello @scubahead, good to see you in ReggaeJahm!
I believe there are some interesting conservation projects in the Caribbean, the one I remember seeing was in Haiti? It also helped to create employment.

thats good to hear. Glad I stumbled onto this community, thanks to @biggypauls . Dude you're from Leicester? Small world

Yes, I live in Leicester (I'm from London) - do you know Leicester?

Raised in Leicester. Know it well. Lestafari!

Hahaha! Really? Fancy that! Which part?
I live in the south side now, along London Road. I've worked all over the place, though - Highfields, Evington, Beaumont Leys, Braunstone, New Parks, Hamilton, Narborough Road.

Grew up on Narb road. Lived in Highfields a little in the 90's and the last time we lived there we were off Queens Road. haha New Parks and Braunstone. Know them well

Wow, that is juat unbelievable!
Actually, @biggypauls and I grew up not too far away from each other in London. Amazing, as there are only about 100-150 people from the UK on here.
I like Narborough Road, I've got friends over there so we go for a wander now and then. I shop in Queen's Road sometimes, or take a walk down there and across the Park and down New Walk to get to the City Centre.

WOW I did not know Jamaica had so many dolphins in the wild. This is amazing footage. Your wife is Jamaican, that is cool, is she on hive?

Thanks for sharing this awesomeness dude. Did I just see a plane underwater? What part of Jamaica is this?

@dmilliz the plane is Runaway Bay, north coast. 25 mins from Ochi. Word has it they were Ganja planes seized and then sunk for artificial reefs. The boss aint on Hive :)
I'll share another underwater video tomorrow of 2 of my friends shooting invasive Lionfish in Negril

Hahaha , yeah my wife can’t be bothered with it either. Interesting, ganja planes sunk for artificial reefs 🤔.

Looking forward to it due 🙌

That's interesting about the ganja planes.
